bronzeback01 Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 I STARTED THE SPINNINGROD POLL SO WHY NOT REELS. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted July 4, 2008 Super User Posted July 4, 2008 I've never bought the more expensive models of spinning reels before, mainly because I don't use them as much. Last winter I bought a Cabela's Prodigy (by Daiwa, Exceler I think) and I am blown away how freakin' smooth it is. It became my favorite from the first cast this spring. I consider it a bargain for the $65 I paid for it. So, I still have not entered the upper branches of spinning reels but with performance like this I don't think I ever will. My vote went to Daiwa on the poll! Quote
quant PT Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 Shimano Stradic or Saros. They are smooth and the drags are awesome. Quote
skillet Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 The first decent spinning reel I bought (Symetre), for the price GREAT reel!!! As Ever, skillet Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 My Daiwa Sol is an absolute joy to fish with. The drag is smooth as silk...blows away my Stradics.. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted July 5, 2008 Super User Posted July 5, 2008 My Daiwa Sol is an absolute joy to fish with. The drag is smooth as silk...blows away my Stradics.. The old or the new or both stradics? Mine is the symetre. It is the most expensive spinning I have and the most I care to spend on a spinning reel. Unlike casting reels, $79 buy a whole lot of spinning reel. ;) Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted July 5, 2008 Super User Posted July 5, 2008 Okuma. I have had two of mine for five years and they are still a workhorse. You can't break them and they only cost around $70. Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 5, 2008 Super User Posted July 5, 2008 Solstace 2000 for light finesse fishing. Stradic 2000 for light finesse fishing. Stradic 2500 MgFA and FI for all presentations. Baitrunner for catfish. All operate extremely well under all conditions. Quote

I know they are in different price points, but I got the Sol off ebay for $130 brand new in the box..... Quote
