Ballpark Frank Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 OK, I love my Carrot. I use it for all kinds of baits, it's a great all-purpose rod. The sensitivity is excellent and it is super light. I actually like the guides. But with all of this I now have an issue/problem. The finish has the worst durability I have ever experienced. I have only had the thing a couple of weeks, maybe, and the D**N finish is already coming off. Has anyone else had this issue with the finish? Did I get a Lemon? Should I contact E21? Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 2, 2008 Super User Posted July 2, 2008 Should I contact E21? Don 't know why are you are waiting. : Quote
Super User flechero Posted July 2, 2008 Super User Posted July 2, 2008 I would take it back to the retailer to exchange. Quote
Whitepaw Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Ballpark Frank, where is the finish wearing out at? I'd like to know because I have 3 C-stix. I had mine for 3 months and no problems so far. Like the other folks said, I'd take a picture and send E21 the info or take them back and exchange for another C-Stix. My .02 cents. Quote
Willzx225 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I have had the same problem with mine. I got mine about 2-3 months ago and have 3 or 4 places where the Carrot has been seperated from the Stik. One is where my wedding band rubs on the exposed blank handle (kind of understandable) and the other ones are where it has brushed against things either in transit of during bumpy boat rides riding with someone else. I love the rod but the durability of the finish was kind of lacking. My theory is that they had such a rush on production that they did not cure long enough or they used a substitute sealer on the blanks. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Both of mine have been through the ringer so far. Sure they're starting to show some wear, but that just adds character. They are still the most comfortable rods (for me) to fish with. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted July 3, 2008 Super User Posted July 3, 2008 I picked up one of the first rods made available, and am very happy with it. No issues as of yet. Quote
lubina Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 I don't have any issues with the finish on mine but I found that some reels, not all, rock on the reel seat. Quote
Ballpark Frank Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 I contacted e21 about my issue. They suggested either exchanging with the retailer or an exchange with them. The problem with both is neither has the model that I have(6'6" MH fast casting). The retailer said that they could exchange for a different model, which is not what I want. E21 said they are no longer making that model, but I could exchange for the 6'9", no-go there either. I am pleased with everything else about the rod, so I guess I'll just deal with it. I did expect more from a $150 dollar rod. Next time it will go ahead and get the Loomis, never had an issue there. Quote
