I always palm.

I do it as I believe it gives me more support for the reel when holding the rod and I when setting the hook.

It feels uncomfortable not palming the reel.

i've only met 1 guy who doesn't.

I hope you can make it to Kentucky Lake next spring,

I look forward to meeting you and then you'll know two

"non-palmers"! It just doesn't feel right to me, but I'm

not at all surprised to be in the minority on this one.

I palm mine.  I have fished with those who don't and it doesn't seem to be that awkward looking.  I have huge hands so palming just about anything isn't hard for me.

I palm my jig/worm combo but don't palm my cranking setup.

I should probably vote Yay then because I use the jig combo MUCH more than my cranking one.

i dont even know how to not palm a reel LOL!

do you hold it by the handle and the trigger when you're fishing? that just seems rediculous! ;D

i palm all the time, couldnt imagine doing it differently.

i also lay my finger under the level wind so that the line lays ontop of my finger. IT REALLY DOES HELP DETECT SMALL BITES!

Of course I do! Only weirdos don't!

:P

So...How do you palm a spinning reel?

::)

Most of the guys I have seen using round reels hold the foregrip and the line.  Old school I guess.  I have seen Shaw Grigsby do this, and several others.

Bass fishing I always palm the reel. But when I am muskie fishing I hold it by the foregrip...I seem to get more leverage on the hookset.

Always have so it would be really awkward to try the other way...

Palm; 2 finger in front of the trigger, two fingers behind the trigger and my thumb on top of the reel.

Do you grab your spinning reel with your hand behind the reel support- that would be like not palming a baitcaster.

I always palm I think it is easier to get into hookset mode plus its more balanced.
