I am looking for a baitcasting reel to compliment a 7 foot medium graphite rod.  I am currently looking at the Abu-Garcia Black Max, Shimano Citica, or a Diawa around the same price.  I just want something to cast pretty smooth and reel in smooth also.   I will use 12 lb. line.  Right now i have an Abu-Garcia Ambasseduer 5500C3.  I want something that is slimmer profile wise, and that will be somewhat smoother.

A couple more you might consider.....Revo S or a Cabela's Prodigy.  I really really like my Prodigy (made by Daiwa) and consider it an excellent bargain at $99.  It is a better reel than my TD-A HST153.  Citica is nice reel too, but bigger than those mentioned above.

I'm a big Revo fan. The Quantum energy pt is pretty good too. I believe they are on sale most places. I saw one for $99 the other day. I believe it was BP.

Go with the Citica. I have three that I just purchased all at one time. Have only used two of them so far. I went with the 200 models even though I felt they might be too large for the type fishing I normally do.....light tackle mostly...I was wrong. Yesterday, after turning on every other brake (3 of 6) I was casting a weightless Zoom lizard rigged on a 2/0 O'Shaughnessy hook about 40 feet with no backlash.....in a light headwind even. I am using 12lb. Trilene Big GAme on both. I have 2 4600C3's, a 5500C3, an older round Black Max, and three of the Mag Plus, all Abu Garcia. I'm a Shimano man now.

Go with the Citica I tell ya. Smooth, oh yea. Quiet, you bet. You won't be disappointed.

If I were to spend more money than planned and get a revo, which is a good for the money ??? I was looking at the SX, for like 160, and the STX for 200.  What is the difference, and is the STX worth the extra 40 dollars ???

If your looking in the sub 100$ range i suggest the Citica 100%
