ArcticCat500 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Im looking to upgrade on my present gear and I've already added two Curado's to the arsenal. Im goin for a couple new rods and havnt decided on weather to go Crucial or BPS. I do have a couple BPS rods and I like them but I've never fished with anything in the high end range. Like to keep my rod choice under $150 mark, any thoughts. Thanks...... Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 17, 2008 Super User Posted June 17, 2008 I'm sure you would like the St. Croix Avid. That is my suggestion at or very close to your pricing point. 8-) Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted June 17, 2008 Author Posted June 17, 2008 Thanks for the rapid responce, if you were to pick 3 Avids to give a wide range of fishing styles what would they be.....TY Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 17, 2008 Super User Posted June 17, 2008 For soft plastics I would choose the AVS68MXF or AVS70MF. For an "all-around" rod, AVC66MF. For jigs and small swimbaits (Mattlures Baby bass), AVC70MHF. My St. Croix are AS66MLF, AC66MF, AC70MM, ES70MF and EC70MHF. 8-) Quote
Willzx225 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I would definitely go with the Crucial. I have 10 and love every one of them. Quote

Chad. Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Crucial i have 5 and avids seriously both are great crucial cheaper and second to none warranty. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 i started w/ a few BPS rods (70 million modulus) and did not like the feeling at all. i traded them in for a few avids and the difference is amazing. My vote is Avid all the way!!! Quote
Jake P Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I didn't hear him say anything about a ST Croix Avid, but i did hear him ask about a BPS rod or a Shimano Crucial :. I would definitely definitely go with the crucial, its a very nice rod at a good price. Quote

joshmb1999 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 my $.02: i've got 3 avids and absolutely love them. since you asked about the crucials and bps rods, i've owned both and would recommend the crucials. they are absolutely awesome rods and are one of the best deals out there. Quote
Gannoli Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 you should try out a compre. great rods just got one. Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 I decided to go for 2 new Shimano Crucials at the LTS, and Im buying one from a fellow BR member. I'd like to go Avid because of the high praise the rods get here, but with my store credit in exchange for surf rods I wont need to take any cash out of my pocket. Now Im faced with which Crucials I want. I'll have the CRCD70M but havnt decided on the other 2 yet....looking to the Crucial guys for advice. Please. Quote
