Thinking about buying a Revo SX and im wondering if it is worth the extra money to go up to the STX. If so than what reasons. Thanks

I only have the sx model.  And I love it, don't think you can go wrong.

Never held the stx, so I can't realy compare.  But I can say that the sx has been very good to me.  Just keep in mind the sx only comes in the burner model, whereas the stx is available in different speeds.

i have owned both. i personally hated the sx. i traded them in for a few more stx's. the difference for was huge. the sx was not as smooth plus i was not casting it as far as the stx. do a search for sx vs. stx and you will so a few more posts of people who agree. hope this helps.

Jake_P, unless I've missed something the sx is only available in 7.1:1.  And apparently I did.  Was looking at cabelas as I was typing, and obviously I missed on that one.  Good catch.

I have got 2 S's, 2 SX's, and an Inshore.  You can't go wrong with a Revo.  Now the SX only has linear magnetic brakes which are great, but they feather the end of the cast while the S, STX, Winch, and Inshore all have centrifugal brakes (the STX has both).  The Centrifugal brakes control the initial part of the cast.  For me I cast REAL hard and the centrifugal brakes help me more than the mag brakes.  Plus the STX, Winch, and Inshore all have the Infinispool which allows for a longer cast (the Premier also has this, but have heard that it is not much difference in performance for the STX at a higher price).  But so far I am so happy with all of my Revo's.  Sorry for the long post.

Each time I fish with my Revo's I smile a little more.  I couldn't be happier with a fishing reel.  How well they cast just blows me away.

Lighter spool. Coated pinion and pawl = Less friction during the cast.

I prefer a high speed reel for plastics and jigs.  That's what I use my SXHS for.  It allows me to keep better control of the slack line with less effort.  The HS reel is too fast IMO for spinnerbaits and cranks but it's great for buzzbaits.  So I need both

I have two Revo SCs, both on All Star American Classic 6'8" MH/F spinnerbait rods.  They get the hardest use of any of my Revos.  In addition to the usual LB, pickerel and bowfin, I've hauled in a few brackish water stripers with them, too.  They perform as well as any of the other Revos.  They are essentially Revo Ss with a magnetic brake.
