bassbuster29 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 does anyone have or have tried the rick clunn series reel.. if so what u think? Quote
Dawson Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 If you are talking about the Bass Pro Shops R.C. reel, I give it a 10 out of 10! Very good reel!! Quote
MNGeorge Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I have several of the RC reels and gave my sons each one for Christmas a year or so ago. I've got two that predate the blue color that are still going strong. Buy it when it's on sale and it's a bargain. Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I own 1, it too predates the blue color, it was Dad's before he passed last year and he fished the heck outta this thing, it never gave him an ounce of trouble, I've been throwing it hard n often and it's served me well also. This reel prompted to look into higher end reels. Im no expert but it's not bad. Quote
StevePG Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I picked up a RC combo on sale at BPS last year, has worked very well for me. Hard to beat for the price. Quote
BPSGuy003 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Main problem that I had with mine was that I just could not throw light baits...I don't mean light as in 1/32 oz. I mean light as in 3/8 ox. It just couldnt toss it further than 20 ft. I have heard this from many people seeing that I do work at a BPS. If you are going to use it for spinnerbaits or some other larger baits, thats fine. If you want a good all around reel go with the Shimano Citica. You can get these reels for the exact same price now at most places and IMO it is the best reel out there for under $100...Check them out see what you like but if you are going to be throwing anything and everything, go with a different reel... Super User dodgeguy Posted June 13, 2008 Super User Posted June 13, 2008 i can throw weightless trickworms on mine.1/4 oz lures cast just fine also. Quote
J_Zink Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I have 3 of the older RCX1000 reels in 5.2:1 ratio I use on my crankbait rods. Great reels. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 If you can't throw a 3/8 oz lure with that reel it is probably set up incorrectly. 3/8 oz is pretty heavy. A lot of spinnerbaits are 3/8 oz. Quote
Namistia Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I can throw a 3/16 spot remover w/ a finesse worm with no problem at all. Quote
Jeff_NHBA Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Excellent reels! They are on sale for 79.99 online. If you have a BPS near you, you can take the printout off the website and they usually honor the sale prices. Quote
