wickyman Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 This is an absolutely amazing, and smooth reel, for the price! I paid $46 and change, and this thing has to be the smoothest reel, I have ever felt! I messed around with a pinnacle 13 bearing reel, at walmart, just 2 weeks ago, ordered this BPS bionic on the Sunday after that, and will never look back! Has anyone else used it? Do you agree with me? It just needs the line, and a hog on the end of it! lol I would recommend this reel to anyone, who wants something light, fast, and cheap! It definitely gets an A+ from me! Super User roadwarrior Posted June 9, 2008 Super User Posted June 9, 2008 Man, I hope it works out for you, but a lot of things seem great when they are shiny and new. Maybe after you fish it awhile you can write a review on how well it holds up. The guys I know from BPS don't fish that reel or much of the "in house" gear. 8-) Quote

Anyone can back the drag off and the spool tensioner off any reel and make feel better than it really is. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted June 9, 2008 Super User Posted June 9, 2008 Glad you are excited about it but come back in a year or two and give us another report. Quote
hawgchaser Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Glad you like it. I have 6 extreme baitcasters and have fished them probably 100 days a year for the past 5 years and have not had one single problem that wasn't fixed with a good cleaning. I have acquired a few "other" reels so I have passed a few of them on to my brother who also loves them. I just don't hear the same bad things about these reels that some of the others have. However, the local shop here hates working on them bc of some parts issues...don't know the details of that. Quote
The Rooster Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I took a look at that reel and it seems like a great deal, especially at the sale price of $40. If you want a good reel for not much money, then that's the only one I'd consider in that price range. I got an Extreme though and I love it so if I get anymore then that's what I'd have to get nexttime. The inertia brakes inside the Extreme are just too nice for me to go back to the magnetic brakes the Bionic Plus uses. Quote
wickyman Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Got line on it yesterday, and just put on a smaller swim bait. Hope to fish it later tonight, when the father in law gets home. As far as it looking pretty, it sure does, but it feels great also, with a little weight on the end, it feels pretty nice, also. I was a little skeptical, and was actually looking at several other reels. Right now, my price range was low, and I needed a smooth reel, with anti reverse. I am using an abu garcia maxxar from way back in the early 90s. 1991, actually, but it does the job effortlessly, just not that smoothly... Both reels weigh about the same, but the BPS reel has 3 times the bearings, and one of them is for the anit-reverse! Which is way better! I will give a review after a couple times out. Quote
The Rooster Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Please do cause I was actually wondering how this reel would perform. I bought the Extreme and I'm totally satisfied, but still was looking at that reel you got just cause it is so low in price, and seemed like you really got a lot more for the money than it was selling for. wickyman Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 It really seems like a nice reel. I have to say that it is definitely a nice reel, in your palm, and your arm won't get tired from cast to cast. 8.0 oz. is all it weighs. It's a graphite frame, so it's pretty strong. The only thing I don't like, is the plastic covers, but they are replaceable. I don't know much about the extreme, but I am sure you just push the logo, and lift up to remove the side plate? Quote
