There is no difference. I agree, they sell the same stuff when it comes to tackle and such. Now the rod's and some reels even though they see top end Abu Garcia's there. Quote
basser89 Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 It may be a pricing error! I had that happen a few years back with a Lightning Rod. Might be worth going back and checking them out! Quote
hawgchaser Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I just called my Wal marts in town and they don't have the PT Energy and i have never seen them in a Wal Mart. But if it is the split grip one, I would buy a half dozen of them. very good rods. Quote
KvD Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 i think of it like guns... wal mart might have the same gun as a local store, BUT in all reality the fit finish action and what not are 100% different... ofcourse the one at walmart is most definately sub par... Alex Quote

If its the SAME gun, it is the same gun, Wal-Mart's is no different than the one at the local store. How they are handled in the warehouse or in the store by the minimum wage employees can make a difference in the appearance, when they they left the factory, they were the same. Quote

Bassyak Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Those rods are probably an older model that is discontinued. I see them for that same price at an aBay store for Simmon's Sporting Goods, but as far as I can tell they're the old models that first came out 5 or 6 years ago. Check the model number and see if it matches those on eBay and that'll give you your answer. If it starts with "TEC" then it's probably the older, if it start with "PTS" then it's a newer model (though maybe not the newest). Also, if it's not currently listed on Quantum's website, then it's a discontinued model. I'm by no means an expert...I just based this off of my observations and research on the web. Quote

fishbear Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I apologize... Was just using the 10/22 as a reference. Did not mean to take it off topic. Quote
