OK Bass Hunter Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I'm still somewhat of a novice with baitcasting reels and fishing techniques for bass. I was wondering what techniques you would use these reels for. For example what reel would be better for flipping/pitching, swimbaits etc. 5.1:1 retrieve speed 6.2:1 retrieve speed 7.3:1 retrieve speed The last time i seriously fished for bass was as a teenager now I'm getting back into it I feel like Rip VanWinkle. skillet Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I'll try and help with this. Just have 2 reels with 6.2:1 and 1 with 5.0:1 so if I'm wrong maybe someone will correct me. 5.1:1 Would definitely be crankbaits 6.2:1 Pretty much anything T-rig, spinnerbaits to topwater 7.3:1 Burning baits like lipless cranks (Rat-l-traps) and buzz baits Maybe one of the Cali guys will help with the swimbaits. Hope info is right and it helped... As Ever, skillet Quote
