I am looking to buy a metanium mg and see the weight at 6 oz,according to japantackle they consider the real for light baits

but what is the size of the reel compared to say a daiwa sol sized reel?

I do want the japan model with 4x4 cast control and eight arb bearings. Some say its a japan core,so whats the cores size?

You are confused, the 4X4 system is only found in two reels:

1.- Scorpion 1000/1001

2.- Scorpion 1000/1001 Mg

There 's no Metanium XT nor Mg with the 4x4 system.

The Metanium Mg is a slightly larger reel than the Sol.

You want the 8 bearings then the Metanium is your reel, but you won 't get the 4x4. You want the 4x4 then the Scorpion Mg is your reel but you won 't get the bearing count.

I have both the Scorpion and Metanium, of the two I would say the scorpion has less drag only compared on no scientific pulling of the line at max drag setting.  So it would be the more finesse of the two.

I can cast really well with either of them.  I like the 4x4 especially on windy days but the centrifugal brakes are easy to get to on the Metanium and can easily be adjusted on the fly. So when it comes to casting light lures its a wash especially if you put it on the right rod.

The Metanium has more bragging rights though, cause of its buttery smoothness.   :)
