Jake P Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I am searching for the ultimate line. I have tried Stren,Yo Zuri (not ultrasoft), Trilene XL, and BPS excel. I know alot of people swear by the Yo Zuri Ultrasoft but i don't like the fact that i have to order it online just to get it. I think im being too picky :-/. What else is worth trying? I plan on trying Sufix Elite and Siege, Berkley Big Game and i might order the YZ Ultrasoft. Any other suggestions? Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 2, 2008 Super User Posted June 2, 2008 There are lines other than PLine CX and CXX available? :-? Quote
The_Natural Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Yep...get yourself some Pline. The first thing I noticed when I tried it was the silicone coating...love it! Quote
hawgchaser Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 You will love Triple Fish X Rated. I have been using 15lb and the stuff is very abrasion resistant and casts like a dream. I love it. The stuff is cheap as well. http://www.triplefishlines.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=92&zenid=2lc5nuluqhashtnp0lnllh78s3 I also have Sufix Siege on a few reels and like it but it does not cast as well as x rated and may not be as resistant to rocks and trees, Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted June 2, 2008 Super User Posted June 2, 2008 Ultimate line is in the eye of the beholder. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 2, 2008 Super User Posted June 2, 2008 There is no "BEST", just favorite. Mine is Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft. I am experimenting with Gamma Copolymer and like it, too! Although I used to fish P-Line, I think it has too much memory, especially in larger diameters and cold weather. 8-) Quote
calandra Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 My favorite would have to be Vicious Fishing Ultimate. I just ordered there 100% Fluorocarbon and will be putting that to the test soon. Quote

Except for a few guys that were sponsored by the company, I don't ever recall a single favorable post about the line. 8-) Quote
calandra Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Well I am not sponsored by them. All's I can say is the line has worked great for me. Allot of the bad was with earlier versions of the line. If you have not tried it in a while, try it again. If you still feel the same way then so be it, but for me it does the job. Like I said I will be trying the Fluor for the first time and have no opinion on that yet. Not a lot of good has been said about Stren Supper Braid either, but I have pulled out some hogs in some heavy cover with the stuff and it cast very well for me, so to each his own. Oh and for the record roadwarrior, I agree there is no best, its just personal choice. Quote

Just out of curiosity, what deficiencies are present in the lines you've used that you're trying to improve on? The Stren has never really presented much problems for me, the Yo Zuri i tried was 12# and had way too much memory, Trilene XL wasn't bad either and the BPS Excel i just didn't like 1 bit. Like i said i think im being too picky when it comes to lines. I was more or less asking for suggestions on some new things to try since i haven't been 100% completely happy with anything i fished with. Quote
