Yo Zuri Line

I tried some yo zuri #15 and it seems stiff as a board.  Didi I get the wrong weight, does it need to be broken in or is it just that stiff?  I have seen several people on this forum speak very highly of yo zuri so I thought I would try it (plus my local gander mtn. had it for $2.49 per spool of 250 or 300 yds, can't pass that up.  Even if I end up using it for backing).  I wondered if line conditioner would make a difference.

I'm not a Yo Zuri expert ( RW seems the most knowl'able). Their is Yo-zuri Hybrid and Yozuri Ultra soft hybrid. I believe the ultra soft is softer. In either case the Yozuri's breaking strength is much higher than the lb test listed. Don't quote me on this but I think the Ultra soft is more suited for spinning and the hybrid works for BC's

I believe the cutoff point for most has been 12lb test on the Hybrid and 6-8lb test on the Ultra. I have read ( maybe do a search ) that several people mentioned using line conditioner. I don't need it for the Ultra on my spinning gear. The line works just fine

have used the 12# hybrid on casters for about a year...overall, it has become one of my favorites for tip-down.

that said, have been using pure fluoro on casters for about three years now so, the hybrid actually seems kinda "soft" to me.

it it not first line i would pick up for spinners, however.

I have fished with the8# thru 12# in both Yo-Zuri lines and like the Ultra Soft for both spinning and bait casters. The 12# breaks at about 20# where as the regular Yo-Zuri is about 1# stronger. At the price you paid you got a deal. If you think it is too stiff for lite applications give it a try when using C-rigs, Jig & Pig, Frogs ect.

Haven't given the Hybrid a try but I use the Ultrasoft 12lb on my baitcaster and 6lb on spinning gear. They are 2 different lines. Just caught a really healthy 6lb bass on my spinning gear the other day. The line held up great! As far as the KVD line conditioner goes, IMHO it would help any line. Great product...

I use the Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 on a lot of my setups. It is great. Add KVD line conditioner and the line becomes really manageble. I was absolutely blown away by the KVD line conditioner. I was skeptical, but it really does work and helps a ton.

A few months ago I found a deal on a 1 lb spool of Yo-Zuri Hybrid #15. I have been experimenting with this on most of my baitcasters and found it to be suitable for heavier lures. With an application or two of the KVD Line & Lure Conditioner, the Line is much more mangeable. I will probably stick with the #15 original Hybrid on my dedicated jig rod and swimbait rig. However, for other applications and techniques, I have a strong preference for #12 Hybrid Ultra Soft. This is what I will continue to recommend to everyone for baitcasting.

On your spinning tackle, try #6 Hubrid Ultra Soft. Treat it with KVD and you will virtually eliminate all memory! This line is the bomb! I don't think there is a better choice for spinning reels. If you think you're up to it, I like #4, too. I have never been broken off by a fish using any of these lines.

Now, one more comment:

I fish the gin clear waters of the White River and Bull Shoals and will be making a trip there in a couple of weeks. For this trip I will be using orginal Hybrid #4 (8.5 lb test). In clear water this line is invisible and I believe using it results in more bites. #4, when treated with KVD Lure & Line Conditioner, has virtually no memory and handles nearly as well as Ultra Soft.

I've been alternating between Yo Zuri Hybrid 6lb, Trilene XL Smooth Casting 6lb, and Fire Line 6lb. I have to say the Trilene casts smoother than the YZ, BUT the YZ definately has less stretch and results in a better hook set. Obviously not as low stretch as the Fireline but the cost difference makes up for that. I choose the Fireline because the 6lb test was only a 2lb Dia. and thus could fit more on the spool than the recommended amount for 6lb test. I would have to say for the cost and the durability the Yo Zuri Hybrid has definatley paid for itself in customer satisfaction in my book. But that's just my $.02

I've been using the 12# Yozuri Hybrid for a few years now. It's the best line I've ever used! It's strong as heck and I've never broke off using it. I got a 8ft Gator to the boat earlier this week and still never broke off! Thank God he somehow freed himself, because I was starting to wonder how I was going to get him off of my line without cutting it and losing a bunch of it! I was NOT trying to catch the Gator... he hit the worm right on the bottom just like a Bass and after a few seconds of fighting... I told my friend... "I either have the new world record Bass or a Gator!"
