Need Some suggestions on new line

Hey everyone first post here... im sure its been discussed a million times.... but i want to try some good new line..

The set up.. a Keven Van Dam signature series reel on a bass pro shops bionic blade 6 foot Medium Hevay rod..

I currently use Cajun Line 8lb, i love the stuff virtually no memory at all but i hate how it fades after just one day on the the lake... it is a premium mono line... I usually only fish small farm ponds but do sometimes fish big waters... i just switched to 10lb of the same line today... i use alot of soft bates mainly zoom 6" lizards....

So my question is whats the best line i can change to to use for my type of fishing?

Braid should fit your needs.

Sufix , power pro are two of the better ones. (20 or 30 lb. test.)

I fish braid on all my spinning reels except my UL and use a leader of mono, hybrid, or flourocarbon depending upon what baits I'm fishing.  I love the Sufix but the PowerPro is also pretty great.

Try the 20-lb braid which is the same diameter as 6-lb mono and you'll be quite happy.   If you hook a bass over 20-lbs then you've got the wrong rod and reel in your hands to begin with but, keep your drag settings reasonable.

Since you're a Georgia boy like me, chances are you fish a lot of heavy cover and the abrasion resistance of both braid and flouro make a HUGE difference when that she-hawg dives under that log and you get into a tug of war with her.

lol yeah im guessing your a dawg fan too huh? lol ive read alot about the shape of the braid flat,oval and round... i fiured the round would be bast, and the P-line makes the 4 layer braid thats round... So im going to give that a try if i dont liek it ill try out another flourocarbon with a low memory formula or somthing...

and yes i fish alot of cover logs grass and what not in old farm ponds which is my specialty.... havent got the hang of fishing big waters yet, lanier, allatoona, west point... etc... lol

I vote either Sufix Braid or Yo Zuri Ultra soft. Both of these are killer on a spinner.

i think im going to try some of this p-line stectrex IV braid... they say on bass pro its got 4 layers which makes it round and not flat... anyone used any of this?

Never fished the P-Line braid but I like some of their other lines (not for spinning reels) like CXX.  I'm sure it's good stuff.

Braid on spinning reels is great but it will get line twist just like any other line.  Now, braid will last you at least a whole year but you're going to have to get the twists out of the line every once in a while or you'll find that it starts wrapping itself around the end of your rod like a snake trying to crawl down your rod to your reel.

So, every once in a while, run at least half the line out - in your yard or from a moving boat - and use your fingers to pull tension on it while your reel it back on.  

Another way cool thing about braid is that you can get extra life out of it by "turning it over" - just spool it from one reel to another and fish the "other end" for a few more months.

Braid may be expensive to buy but I think it's the cheapest line to use by far.   On my reels that I use mono or flouro, I have to re-spool them every month or two - that gets really expensive!

I assume your reel has a an extra spool?

I use 6 or 8 pound Trilene XL on one spool and Sufix 20 or 30lb braid on the extra. This makes for a very versatile setup. I can fish for bass, trout, walleye with the trilene or switch to braid and go after the hybrids or redfish.

This allows me to use a very small reel for nearly all my fishing needs.
