ABC123 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Well, I need 2 baitcasters for 6-10lb line. Do I need the Pixy reels to throw 1/8-1/4 oz lures with 6-10 lb braid and 6 or 8lb mono??? I do have a Sol, but I'm really attracted to the Pixy, but then again, I can get Sol's for $160. I will consider other options, but, they MUST be small framed and MUST be under 8oz. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted May 24, 2008 Super User Posted May 24, 2008 The Daiwa Presso would be perfect for light lures but it also has it's price. The reel only weighs 5.4oz. http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/default.php?currency=USD&cPath=22_81_84_106 Quote
ABC123 Posted May 24, 2008 Author Posted May 24, 2008 Oh yeah, I forgot about the Presso. I'll have to look at that one too. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted May 24, 2008 Super User Posted May 24, 2008 Nothing finer than a tuned Pixy, aka Pixzilla. Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 25, 2008 Super User Posted May 25, 2008 The Sol and Alphas are great reels, the Alphas Itö is even better, but compared to the Pixy for light line & small lures it 's like comparing your everyday drive to a F1 car. I wouldn 't recommend the Presso, it 's for even lighter line plus it only has a 70 mm handle. BTW, I wouldn 't recommend 6-10 lb test braided line either, it 's as thin as a hair and it will break easily if you rub it against a rock, you want 6-8 lb diameter then you 'll have to go higher, 20 lbs braid minumum. Yeah, I just found that out about 6lb braid. It doesn't work on the Sol very well. I think I'm going to put it on the spare spool for my 8025 and use it to throw little cranks for Crappies and sunfish. I like 10lb braid on spinning reels, and I'm going to try it on the Sol. I want to know how it works, good or bad. I do have plenty of 6-20lb mono and 10-20 braid, so I can spool up what is needed. Thanks for the input so far, my rebate check might have to go for 2 Pixy's. Quote
