Super User T-rig Posted May 23, 2008 Super User Posted May 23, 2008 Anyone use this reel? I just can't see how a reel in this price range would perform well, or am I completely wrong? Thanks in advance! http://cgi.ebay.com/Daiwa-Megaforce-100TSH-Baitcasting-Reel-Twitchin-Bar_W0QQitemZ290231774715QQihZ019QQcategoryZ108153QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
RogerWaters Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Yup. I fished one for about a month, then I returned it to BPS. The thumbar stuck open all the time and the drag came lose on its own. I love the twitchin' bar for taking up slack line while multi-tasking with my crank hand (drinking coffee, messing with sonar or gps, ect.) but it wasn't worth the trade off for poor operation. I might pick up the Viento w/twitchin' bar in the future, but it's 3 times the price...... Quote
Super User T-rig Posted May 23, 2008 Author Super User Posted May 23, 2008 Thanks Roger! What other reel could you recommend for baits up to 3/4oz. The twitchin bar is not a must. Quote

That's a tough one to find in that price range. When I brought mine back I upgraded to a Shimano Castiac 201, and so far I love it, but I've never had a Shimano reel I didn't like. I'm sure If you do some reel searches on this site, you'll get the answer you're looking for (or get alot more confused :-? ) Also, although I only had the magforce for a month and only used it about a dozen times, I already find myself missing the twitchin' bar applications....... PezJunkie Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Bought one couple weeks ago, fished it last week. In my opinion its junk. Quote
joeyd50 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Field & Stream says this is the best value in a Baitcaster reel http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_96615_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 I just landed a 38" 19.5 lb Striper on Mothers day with this reel and had no problem getting this fish in.
