jhoffman Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Ive used it for leaders on carolina rigs. I would NEVER spool that stuff. Quote
NJAngler609 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 i have the berkley vanish flurocarbon spooled on my Daiwa Fuego and i absoluetly love it....completely invisible in the water and the lines not as stiff as most fluros Quote

Big Tom Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I have noticed some weird things while using vanish. For some reason, I cannot keep it on any low profile reels. It screws up after every cast. I used to use Bass Pro round reels and I NEVER had a problem with Vanish on those. I don't know what the difference is but for some reason Vanish and low profiles just do not get along....at least for me anyway. Quote
basser89 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I'd stay away from it! Very brittle. I started using it when it first came out and I liked it. Then, they changed it for some reason and ever since then, I don't like it. I won't even try the new Berkley Trilene 100% flurocarbon. BPS XPS is what I'm using now. Quote
Big Tom Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Does the XPS have pretty decent castability? I have debated trying it but I never want to dish out the shipping or gas to make it mine. If it has good manageability then I will probably give it a try. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 22, 2008 Super User Posted May 22, 2008 I tried to use vanish when it came out. Too many issues with it. Try something else. Quote
The Next KVD Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 STAY AWAY FROM VANISH!!!! Everyone that i've talk to says it sucks. I use P-Line 100% fluorocarbon which retails for 14.99 to 21.99 for 250yds and it is alot better. Quote
SimonSays Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 For me Vanish is horrible on BCers, I bet it's just me and my inexperience with fluoro on them but I kept getting deep backlashes. For fluoro I use Berkley's 100% fluoro works great on the reel and as leaders. I'm also tempted to give BPS fluoro a try after hearing some good things. Quote
NinjaFishin Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I tried vanish too. I wouldnt even give it away to someone, its that un managable. Atleast on my spinning set up it is. Bad line twist, wind knots, etc. NOT worth the money! Quote
NJAngler609 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 you guys just dont have the skills to make vanish work ;Dlol i've never had a problem with it Quote
daviscw Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 It worked fine for me too. I was using 8lb test with the KVD conditioner though. The smaller test may have helped? Quote
NinjaFishin Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 you guys just dont have the skills to make vanish work ;Dlol i've never had a problem with it no line should require skill to use. Quote
basser89 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Hey Big Tom, I've had no problems with the XPS casting. One of the rods I use it on is my spinnerbait rod. I have no problems casting 1/8oz up to 3/4oz spinnerbaits with 17# test. Quote
Chode2235 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Oh its not that bad. I actually really like the transition line. I assume that is the one you are talking about. I really like the Gold color for jigging as you can see the lilne so much better. It changes to clear underwater. I have never had a problem with it, and find it to be a great line. Watch for nicks in the line though. The stuff isnt very abrasion resistant. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 23, 2008 Super User Posted May 23, 2008 you guys just dont have the skills to make vanish work ;Dlol i've never had a problem with it I resent that. Making a broad general assumption as that is childish and inmature. I see that you are 24, that probably explains it. For the record I have been fishing tournaments since before you were even born. When you have the experience to travel across state lines to fish lakes you have never seen and have to contact friends to tow your winnings home you might qualify to make a statement like that. Otherwise your time might be better spent standing in a bass boat and trying to figure out a viable pattern. Quote

I have no problems casting 1/8oz up to 3/4oz spinnerbaits with 17# test. I have heard its actually a lot easier to cast than other popular brands. I may give it a try soon. The vanish would try to jump off of my spools after I casted it. Quote

I have heard that the "New" formula Vanish is better than the old. The same comments have been made about the "New" Sensation. Unfortunately I used both of the "old" and will NEVER try the new... Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me. > Quote

Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me. > I used Vanish last year without any problems at all. I had it spooled on a Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier round reel and it casted as easily as mono. At the first of this year, I put the stuff on a Revo SX and it wouldn't stay on that spool at all. I don't know what the difference is but I switched to P-line and I am semi content with that for now. Quote
