Citica 100DSV size and weight vs 200D's features may lead me into a Revo S???? Need some

Hey guys, I am pretty set on buying a new Citica combo in the upcoming weeks.  Just had some questions before making the final purchase.  The 100DSV looks like it would be a better fit with its smaller size but If I'm correct, it does not have a cross drilled spool like the 200D?  How much of a factor is this in casting light baits and overall distance.  I also noticed it has 3+1 bearings instead of the 4+1 on the 200 models.  Is this a big enough factor to just go ahead and get the 200 model.   I like the 100DSV's size and weight, but like the features of the 200D.  Which is sort of swaying me towards a  Revo S as well  and it comes in at a light 8.6 ounces like the 100DSV, and has 8+1 bearings  and a cross drilled spool.  Sort of getting the size of the 100DSV and the features of the 200D.   Any thoughts, I know the Citica has been talked about alot, but not all the issues in the same thread. I've researched the bearing issue a little here and there and understand more bearings is not necessarily better, but I would assume as long as it's from a high end company, ie... Shimano, or Garcia that the more the better??

Don't worry about the bearing count. Both reels have quality bearings in them, and I would be surprised if you could actually feel the difference. As long as the bearings are where they will enhance performance and castibility, the rest is extra weighted fluff.

As for casting light baits, I am certain that both should easily cast a 1/4 oz

If you are a true student of the bait monkey, you know that there is only one answer. Get the Citica and the Revo S. 8-)

Why you wicked little devil you  ;D  So do I go 100DSV or 200D for the Citica?  I'd hate to get one or the other and then regret missing out on the drilled spool of the D or the weight savings of the DSV.

I have a 200D and I love it. I've never held a 100DSV, but I do love my 200D.

I had the 200D, and have a 100DSV currently. I had no problem with the 200D, except for the size, that is why I have a 100 now. I prefer smaller reels, as do most people.

I have one of each.  I use the 100DSV on my worm rod and the 200D on my spinnerbait rod.

Regarding the spools...Does anyone find any noticeable difference between the solid spool and the drilled, as far as casting distance or casting light baits??

the 200's drilled spool isn't that drilled! ;D the 100 is significantly lighter and castability is excellent. i bought both and haven't even spooled line on my 200 yet because i like the 100 so much. go ahead and buy the 100 and if you feel it is too small, i trade you straight up for my 200.

I think I will probably go with the 100 then.  I appreciate the help and the pics.  I haven't bought a new reel in quite some time and have never had one with a drilled spool, so I did not know how much difference there was.  I would assume the reels are so smooth anyway it doesn't matter and they both cast effortlessly.

the 100 is a good choice. the idea of a drilled spool is sexy but i don't know that it makes much (if any) difference in terms of how far you can cast. just look at the BPS david fritts baitcasters...the marketing lingo says that the "slightly heavier spool...generates incredible inertia on the cast" so they claim a heavier spool is a Good Thing  ;D fwiw, my 100DSV will handily outcast my revo S.

something i don't like about drilled spools is how it kinks the first 20-30 yards of line wrapped around the arbor.

as for bearing count, that is more of a marketing-thing than anything else and, ultimately, not that important. if the number of bearings weren't emblazoned on the reels themselves, you'd never be able to tell by using them.

btw, most websites list the 100DSV as 7.4 ounces...that is incorrect. it is really 7.9 oz. if you go to shimano.com, you'll see the correct specs. i weighed mine on a postal scale and it comes in right at 7.9 oz.
