GitRDoneIke23 Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I think it's about time for me to invest in a decent spinning reel. My $30 shimano of 5 years died the other day, so I think I'll upgrade. My Birthday's coming up so I'll just use that $$$$ to buy one. (No I'm not breaking my promise of no more tackle. this is just like getting a gift. :)) I already have a rod so all I need is a reel. I want a Shimano for under $100. Thank's for the help ya'll! Ike 8-) Quote

Bassyak Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I just got a new Saros on Ebay for just under $100 and it's a great real. I have a Symetre too, but I really like the new features on the Saros. Quote
joshmb1999 Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 with all the love for the symetre you should know they are on sale at Reeds for $64.99. http://www.reedssports.com/Category/custom.taf?cpage=41 Quote
SCBASS Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 If you do not need a new reel right now, you may just want to wait until after ICAST. There is something going on with the models below the Saros. My guess is that they will be getting the same updates as the higher end reels did last year. If you're set on the current models, they should be going on sale within the next couple weeks as companies start to clear them out. Quote

It'll probally be about a month or 2 before I buy it I was just wanting to know what everybody likes. Do ya think they might clearance a reel over $100 down to around $75-$85?? Thank's! Ike 8-) Quote
SCBASS Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 I don't think they are discontinuing the Saros, Stradic or Sustain (the $100+ reels) since they were just redesigned. The Symetre and Sahara should be going on sale within the next few weeks. Quote

I would recommend the Shimano Symetre at full price. 8-) Quote
