Hey guys I am looking for a really nice knot to tie my lures to my line with. I am TIRED of losing fish with the clinch knot, it sucks I have lost 6 fish on it no lie. I like the uni-knot, but was wondering what knot you guys like the best and recommendations. Thanks.

Do you use the clinch or the "improved clinch knot?  I, myself, use the improved clinch, and when dressed right have never had a problem with it.  Knot trying to be smart, but dressing the knot right is half the battle.

Ok im trying to learn the palomar knot but everytime I do it it comes out wierd looking. Is it a wierd looking knot or am I doing something wrong?

improved clinch or palomar depending on the application, and I have been known to add a drop of glue to the knot to lock it down

If you keep the loop on top of the knot and wet the line with some spit, it will look nice and tight.

I kind of don't like the polomar knot, so which do you guys think would be better, learning to tie a nice Trilene knot (which is very easy) or keeping the Uni-Knot?

learn to tie the trilene knot and then see which one you're more comfortable with, they are both great knots,  I know I just hate fumbling around tying something I'm not comfortable with, especially if i'm on the fish, learn to tie as many as possible, you never know when a you may need one

Palomar and uh Palomar.  Wet the knot and it's as good as it gets in my opinion.  Never had one break yet from 8# all of the way up to 20# test including flourocarbon.

Going against the consensus, my favorite knot is the Uni-Knot

because true to its name, the uni-knot is truly a universal knot.

I use it to tie direct to a T-rigged hook, to join two lines of different materials

and to tie direct to a lure with 3 treble hooks.

If you examine the knots closely, the Uni, Trilene, Improved Clinch and San Diego Jam are fundamentally the same knot. I generally tie the Palomar Knot, but with thicker line and bigger lures, I tie the others. Most recently I've been tying the Jam without any issues.

I almost always use the Uni knot. It's really really easy to tie, and very strong. It's not as strong as the palomar, but you shouldn't have your drag set anywhere near the breaking strength of the line anyway.

With walk-the-dog baits you can even leave a little loop in the Uni knot if it floats your boat.

I don't think I'll ever need another knot, although I do use the palomar for downshotting.

I've used the clinch knot for over forty years, without any problems. Sometimes I use the palomar, but only about 10% of the time.

Palomar with braid, and on the drop shot, trilene knot for every thing else.

Trilene knot for mono and flourocarbon

Palomar for Fireline

Uni-knot with two wraps under it for braid.
