I bought a spool of sufix elite early last summer. The line held up well on my reel. I have ample left over in the box. My question is, what is the shelf life of this monofilament line. I don't tournament fish but like everyone else, I would hate to lose the "big one" just because I didn't want to cough up eight bucks for a new box of line. However, I hate to waste it if it is still good. Give me your thoughts o wise ones.....

Can't say from experience with the Sufix, but I have several different Berkley monofilament lines that are 20+ years old and still are just fine.  So long as it has not been subjected to prolonged sunlight, excessive heat or cold or any chemicals/fumes, I would use it without hesitation.  It's easy enough to test it if you have any doubts.

I do tournament fish and I recently spooled a spinning reel with Sufix elite that I purchased last year. Should not be a problem. I do store my line in my basement away from UV rays,etc........Al

As long as it wasn't sitting in the sun or experienced cold or extreme heat conditionsit should be fine.

I would think most monos are about the same.  Berkley claims a 3 year shelf life on trilene to retain it's ratings, if it's stored in the house.
