bowtech_182 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Which do you think is a better rod? I can pick up the extreme combo for $100 or get a Rick Clunn for $60, got to Dicks and buy the silvermax/lighning rod combo for $30 after rebete and pair the silvermax with the RC rod. It will be use for shakey head, t-rigs and jigs Quote
soccplayer07 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 i have been very disappointed w/ my bass pro shops rods. i have the pro qualifier series. i am heading to bps today to exchange them. Quote
Jeff_NHBA Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I havn't had any problems with any of my BPS rods. I do wish they would add a hook keeper (looks like they have these now on their Crankin' Stick). They also sellthe balancing kit for another $10.00 or so. Buy the rods when on sale and just pick up the balancing kit to go with the rod. Keep in mind though that not all BPS rods take the kit. pk Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I kind of dogged the BPS rods in another post. But I'm changing my view. I had a Loomis SBR that busted on me on it's 3rd use. I didn't even want to hassle with their return policy so I took it back and got a 2nd pro Qualifier for 80 bucks at BPS and another revo. I was really pleased with the 7'0 MH for working jigs that I got a 7'0 M for working lighter jigs and throwing spinnerbaits. I'm yet to miss a strike on them. They might be heavier but that's a none issue for me. Get the BPS rod. Quote

bowtech_182 Posted May 10, 2008 Author Posted May 10, 2008 I have a 6'6" med fast extreme combo already and am happy with it. It sure isn't the same as my Avid/Revo SX, but is 1/3rd the price. I was looking at the 6'10" MH/x-fast extreme, but if the RC is a better rod I might go that route. Quote
Super User Micro Posted May 10, 2008 Super User Posted May 10, 2008 I like BPS rods. I have a Johnny Morris Elite and two Pro Qualifiers. The JME is superb. The PQs are good rods - outstanding for the $59 sale price I got on them. I don't know much about the Clunn rods, but the Extremes are very highly regarded and look very nice. I'd buy one in a minute. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted May 11, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted May 11, 2008 I mostly fish with Lightning rods paired to BPS extreme bc's. Not the most most expensive combo but very comfortable and durable. Quote
hawgchaser Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I am a big fan of the extreme rods. I have many of them. The handle makes them feel bulky to some but fits me well. I have said many times that they are the best buy out there especially on sale. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted May 11, 2008 Super User Posted May 11, 2008 Great if you need an emergency pool cue. Quote
