joshmb1999 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 which would you choose? all around application - going on a legend elite 7' MF casting rod. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 I can only comment on the Revo. It's a very good reel that I would recommend to anybody. Falcon Quote
Super User flechero Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 I'd go 50MG if it were my money but to be fully honest, I've never held a zillion... I'd buy the MG anyway though, because I love light weight reels... especially on a M rod. Quote
bassripper2000 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I have a Zillion on a Med. Custom built Legend Elite. The Zillion is a bit big for it. My curado 100DSV works much better with it. So in that respect, I would chose the 50 MG for sure for a Med. Legend Elite. I am building a Loomis IMX MED HEAVY for the Zillion. No experience with STX, but I hear their drag is top notch for reel that size (24lbs of pressure).... You probably won't tap that range though if you using a med stick. Neways, 50 MG for sure... Zillion is awesome if you have a heavier rod. Also the 50 can cast lighter lures a lot better than the zillion. I want a 50 mg now.... > Quote
dman Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 i'd go with the Shimano....I have a Chronarch and an STX, I also have a couple Quantum Energy's....The Shimano is so much smoother and casts much nicer than all of them. Quote
Hooked_On_Bass Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I have a Zillion 100SHLA and a Chronarch 51 Mg and they are both great! I have my Zillion on a Heavy/X -Fast rod (Crucial) and the Chronarch on a Medium/Fast rod (Avid). I think the Chronarch Mg/Legend Elite would make an awesome combo. Good luck! Quote
Super User Alpster Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 I fished a STX breifly that belonged to someone else, so I didn't really get to test it thoroughly. It's a nice reel, but I would like to fish it longer before making a recommendation. I have fished with the 50Mg hundreds of hours in all conditions. I have 4 of them and will probably get more. I love them and heartily recommend it. I have no experience with the zillion. Ronnie Quote
aggiebassin Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 i would have to agree with the majority here too and say the 50 mg. the other 2 are great reels but seem to be a little much on the MF stick. you won't be able to benefit from the super drag of the STX and the zillion seems a bit big and heavy for a medium stick and the baits you throw with one.....50 mg and 10-12# line on that rod will be one sweet combo. Super User Catt Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 The 50MG & a Texas Rig; the sweetest setup you'll ever use Quote
Super User FishTank Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 I can give a solid opinion on the Zillion. I've said it before, IMHO, the Zillion is the best workhorse reel out there. Quote
wagn Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 comparing the stx to the zillion, i prefer the zillion. I love them both but something about the zillion just feels a little better in my hand Quote
The_Natural Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Jigs and worms...Mg50 Spinnerbaits, Crankbaits, and Rip baits....Zillion Quote
