tennwalkinghorse Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I have read the five page post by Castamasta on how great this stuff is. I all most want to think all you guys must have stock in the company. Most of you say to just spray it on your reel and let it stay over night. I find it hard to beleive that it will penetrate all the loops on the spool in order to be effective. Could some one who has used it explain this . Thanks Quote
Cory20 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I just respooled last night and used KVD line conditioner. I gave it a couple pumps as I spooled up. I noticed an immediate difference in the way the line feels, will have to see how it casts tomorrow. I don't know the preferred technique to recondition, but this is my plan. On the last cast of the day tie on something heavy and hurl it on out there. Spray, reel half way in, spray, all the way in, spray. Should get some conditioner on all of the "working" line. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted May 1, 2008 Super User Posted May 1, 2008 This stuff is whole new world for any fishing line trust me u will think how did i survive so long without it I LOVE IT it really does what it says and then some makes my 15 and 20 lb big game feel like something under 10 lbs it is well worth the price BIG TIME Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted May 1, 2008 Super User Posted May 1, 2008 Step One: Spray all of you filler spools. Step two: Either run your line through a towel sprayed with KVD or spray it directly on the line every ten turns or so as you spool on new line. Step three: Let the conditioner dry, overnight is best. The "magic" is in the bonding. KVD Line & Lure Conditioner is not a coating, it is absorbed by the line. This becomes a molecular bond which is permanent. 8-) Quote
tyrius. Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 It's a public company? If so, it may be a good investment. That stuff rules! BTW, for the most effective application while you are spooling your reel you want to run the line through a rag with the conditioner sprayed on it. Then you will ensure that you have a good initial application. After that spraying it on the spool will work through enough to get the line you actually use. I doubt that you can use too much of it, so I need to also follow RW's advice and spray my filler spools! Quote

dollarbill Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 I picked up a bottle of this stuff today at dick's sporting goods. A couple of weeks ago I used reel magic on my line. If I apply this to my line now will it cause a problem because of the reel magic. The website says not to use on line that has been treated with something else. Any advice... Quote

Yep, strip off the old line and respool with fresh new line, then apply. The KVD stuff needs to be able to bond to your line, and if your line was already treated with Reel Magic, WD-40 or other such products that have already coated or been absorbed by your line, they will prevent the KVD stuff from bonding. -T9 Quote
Cory20 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Yesterday got a chance to get out there for a few hours yesterday. I think the KVD stuff made all the difference. 15 lb flouro was casting like a breeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzeeeeeee Quote
Deputy Dave Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 I just ordered a bottle based on this thread. Is it possible to apply this product to line that is already on my reels? If not, I change line frequently throughout the fishing season and am clear on how to apply it while putting on new line. I assume that I could spray it on my line that's already on a reel and then pull several yards off the spool and spray it again to treat line further down in the spool on the reel. Its always better to ask before I waste any of what sounds like an awesome product! Quote
Cory20 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 You can apply it to line on reels as long as they have not been treated by any other product. I'm not sure how many layers it gets down into on already spooled line and can't recommend much there. Anybody? Quote
dollarbill Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I tried using this stuff on my line and the spray top is not working. The directions said to shake well before using and that is when it stopped spraying. Any advice.. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted May 6, 2008 Super User Posted May 6, 2008 Open it and see if the straw came out. Quote
