wdy77 Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Has anybody used this new rod? It has the new spring eyes like on the $350.00 g loomis rods. Its is on sale now for 150.00 and it looks good! Would the 7 ft med heavy make a good worm rod?? IT sems a little lite at the tip.. FEEDBACK PLEASE!! 8-) Quote
Super User Micro Posted May 5, 2008 Super User Posted May 5, 2008 I have a JM Elite 7' MH with the Recoil guides. I have a JM Elite baitcast reel on it. It's spooled with 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid. The 7' is a good plastics rod. It's extremely sensitve. The tip is a wee bit softer than the 6'6" rod and if you are going to use it for JUST plastics, the 6'6" may be a bit better due to the harder tip. Otherwise, the 7' is a good worm rod, but it can pull duty on spinnerbaits, big cranks, etc. The rod seems well made, is very light, very sensitive, has a nice very reel seat. A very good rod for $150. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted May 5, 2008 Super User Posted May 5, 2008 my uncle has that rod and loves it...very light and sensitive...great looking rod... i would go for it!! Quote
bronzeback01 Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 i've used that rod in the spinning model and it's one of the best rods that i have ever used. Quote
Georgia Jeff Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Last years model is on sale for $129.00 online!!!!! I couldn't tell any difference except for the foregrip is cork on the old and not cork on the new. Seems to have the same carbon wrap and recoil guides. Same 85 million modulous fibers. Does anyone know if there are any differences in last years model and this years? Bye the way they only have 6'6 med. and med/hvy. Quote
Super User Micro Posted May 6, 2008 Super User Posted May 6, 2008 Does anyone know if there are any differences in last years model and this years? Bye the way they only have 6'6 med. and med/hvy. The new ones don't have the foregrip, and I don't think they have the butt counter balance system. Quote
Georgia Jeff Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 If that is all then this is a good deal. I like the optional balance system and the cork foregrip can't add that much weight. I bought one last night and am feeling good about the purchase provided that this is all that is different. Quote
Big Tom Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Does anyone really know why the folks at Bass Pro put such a large tip guide on the Johnny Morris Elite Trigger Rod? Are there any advantages in doing this or is it just something Johnny wanted? My roommate has one and the large guide sticks out like a sore thumb until you get used to seeing it. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted May 6, 2008 Super User Posted May 6, 2008 i have no idea but it sure works fine. Quote
Georgia Jeff Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 BPS sold out of the 6'6 MH. Glad I ordered mine 3 days ago. Should be here soon. I can't wait. Quote
