XbassmasterX Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Sunday morning and read the ads. and dicks sporting goods and found a 20% coupon and found what looks like the revo s on a silver mas lightning rod and list of $94 then $59 and 20% off to 48 and a $20 mail in rebate so a REVO s on a lighting rod for $28!? can this be ture and would the rod be of any use or just a free rod to get that revo s for real cheap :-? Super User .dsaavedra. Posted April 27, 2008 Super User Posted April 27, 2008 it might not be a revo. did you see where it said revo? because at the dicks around here i have seen abugarcia silver max reels/lightning rod combos. and the silver max's didnt have red spools either. the silver max and revo do look similar, so it might not even be a revo. either way thats still a good deal because i hear the silver max's are pretty good, and the lightning rods are probably the best sub $100 rod i have used. XbassmasterX Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 it says abu garcia next to it and looks a lot like the REVO S but I am going to the store and check it out frist hand hopefully it is Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 27, 2008 Super User Posted April 27, 2008 You won't see a Revo S on a store combo. Quote
XbassmasterX Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 turns out it was a silver max but dinko the clown I have seen REVO S on a Fenwick at gander mnt not to long ago Quote

JT Bagwell Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 If it is the same Dick's flyer that I got today, it says right in it that it is a Silver Max. B. Silver Max Lightning Rod Baitcast Combo - $39.99 after rebate. JT Bagwell Quote
Mike-in-WV Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Don't underestimate the Silver max, It's a really smooth reel and I can cast as far with it as I can my Revo S. The gears in them are great and it's well made. They just used a plastic body but this stuff is much tougher than you think. Also remember that the Revo S has a plastic side cover over the brakes. It sure doesn't hurt it any, Mike Quote
Super User cart7t Posted April 28, 2008 Super User Posted April 28, 2008 I've also picked up a few Silver Maxs over the past week or two. Had the opportunity Friday to try one out for the first time. Pretty amazing reel. It's obvious that the fit and finish isn't the same as a Revo but as far as castability and everything else a reel has to do, it works perfectly and feels like a Revo on the rod. Since I spent around $42 on each reel NIB, they're looking like a really affordable option. Now we'll have to see how they hold up over the season. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 28, 2008 Super User Posted April 28, 2008 One of my buddies picked up one of those combos when they first came out. It is a very nice reel, but the rod snapped while fighting a three pound bass. Falcon Quote
