I used one while Redfishing in Venice last month. It was my friends rod but i spent a day with it. Its a good rod and felt ok but was super bulky feeling to me. I would mess around with one first just to make sure you like it. Obviously any Loomis rods are quality so you don't need to worry there. Just make sure i feels right to you.

They felt bulky  to me too.  I have the Mossyback M/H 7'5 flipping stick, not collapsable, that would probally suit very well as a frog rod.

i dont wanna bash loomis in any way here ,,,, loomis does make killer rods ..... however i believe they really missed the mark with thier frog rod .... the rod is a tank ,, way too much cork .... the rod isnt crisp in the hook set at all .... some may like the rod and thats fine .... IMO spend the extra 50 bucks and get the st croix legened tourney bass rod .... this rod is way liter in over all weight .... super strong ... real crisp on the hook sets .... you wont find a better frog rod IMO ... and i have fished a few different frog rods including the loomis ,,,, all were sold off execpt the croix ....  :)

My suggestion is to handle one before you buy; I ordered mine and was surprised at how heavy it is. It is heavier than my Crucial 7'6" flippin stick. I haven't fished it yet, so I can't comment on that, just that it is heavier than I expected for a Loomis.
