I mentioned in my last post that I have been lookin for new gear for when I finally get back from my 3rd tour over here.  My rods and reels are in serious need of some upgrading.  I am looking for somewhere where I can find shimano or daiwa reels, and loomis, st.croix, airrus rods with a miltary discount or better than average pricing.  I'm serious about my bassin but on a junior enlisted man's budget it can be tough to get the gear I need to stay on top of my game, especially since I plan on startin some tourney bassin when I get home.  Thanks for the info in advance guys, and Bud if ya read this I can't wait to get back on Kentucky lake with ya when I get back!

The only place I have found to get deals on Loomis is E-Bay or on here.  Forget about deals at the retail stores, I haven't found any.  Actually I did.  I was getting 5-10% off until the guy got fired. But maybe with your military i.d you can get discounts.

In fact, being in active duty with the war should get you FREE gear.  Atleast the gear you WANT without having to worry about affording it.

Just start with one set up at a time... for instance a Citica 100 and a Falcon Low rider rod is a good DECENT set up... will only cost you a bit over 200 and that is one sweet set up that I would take to a tournament any day...

I don't know of any place that offers a substantial discount either... BPS offers a discount but only on certain days... like others have mentioned.. the bst here is an AWESOME source as well as ebay... good luck with your quest... don't try and buy it all at once... and before you know it you will have an arsenal that anyone would be proud to have...

GOOD LUCK

That is some great advice. When faced with the decision to buy one killer setup or 2 so-so ones, get the killer one. If you don't, you'll end up replacing the so-so ones, which is a waste of your hard earned money. Buy your last rod first, kind of deal...

this is so true, last year i had a bunch of crap rods, now i have two customs and thats all i own. one was built for me and the other i built and just finished up tonight.  do like he says and buy one good set up rather than a few lesser ones.

Thanks for all the info guys!  Ebay's lookin awful nice!  Off topic, but, I just got some o' them nasty glass vial stink bombs off there to play some pranks on some buddies.  Good deals on some good gear there too!  Thanks again!
