Redtail Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I can't believe the sensitivity in the Shimano Cumara Baitcaster. It made my allstar feel like a broom stick. What a difference. I'm sure all the higher end rods give you great sensitivity as well, and I don't have anything to compare it to, but for $200 bucks I'm extremely happy with this rod. I also have the Cumara spinning rod I haven't tried yet. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 4, 2008 Super User Posted April 4, 2008 Oh-oh! Once you have been bitten by the high-end, there's no going back. 8-) Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Oh-oh!Once you have been bitten by the high-end, there's no going back. 8-) Amen - thanks to this forum on this site, I was bitten last fall. Yesterday I went shore fishing with my brother who found a new spot to fish, and all I had was my baitcaster. He was casting a jerkbait out really far to the holding area, which was not possible with the baitcaster because there were trees and brush around. Instead of using his other rod ($40 combo), I walked back to my car (10 minute round trip), got my Stradic/IMX, and went back 8-) Times have changed for me. Quote
Matt Jungblut Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 i will let u know how i like the rod i went backwards sold my 724 imx to buy the 6'8" meduim extra fast but i did it because i have a 844 imx & a arruis xl 6'8" and it was to dang hard to use the 7 and almost 7 foot rod then pick up my 6 foot rod i hear that they feel like a imx so i should be happy Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 5, 2008 Super User Posted April 5, 2008 The Cumara is an amazing rod. Loomis needs to take design notes. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted April 5, 2008 Super User Posted April 5, 2008 I almost pulled the trigger on one of these a week ago. I had intended to get a mod./fast rod for crankbaits but when I picked up the Cumara I started to get side tracked. The models I looked at were light, seemed powerful and I liked the foam grips. I ended up with a Loomis crankbait rod but I sure was tempted to get a Cumara. I just wish they had one that was geared just for cranks. Quote
Chad. Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I hope to get one by the end of the year, but in canada they are quite expensive. I was thinking medpower fast action 7'2'' for smallies Quote
dgquail Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I probably own 20+ loomis rods, just bought a Steez (rod and reel, have not used yet), and a Kistler LTX (have not used), went fishing with a guide yesterday, fished with two of his Cumara rods. After the trip, went to the local baitshop and bought 2 Cumaras. Don't know what I am gonna do with the kistler and the steez, but am definitely gonna sell some loomis rods. Quote
