Low profile reels vs round reels

does the round still offer the same things as do the low other than the obivous size differnce / feel

does any one use them / like them more as you can buy a high quilty round reel for cheap compared to the low

round has more line cap gernely lighter for that size you get

I used Abu round reels for years.  Then I bought my first low profile - a Shimano Curado B.  Loved the size.  Got more low profiles when the Revos came out.  Generally, they outperformed by Abu round reels.  Thought I'd never go back.  Then I bought an Abu 5600 EXT Pro round reel.  It outperforms my Revos with respect to casting light baits.

There are junk reels in both catergories, and stellar reels in both categories.  Just comes down to what you want and how much you are willing to pay.

I use nothing but round reels specify Shimano Calcutta or Cardiff  ;)

Why? Because I like the feel because I started with Abu Garcia and old habits are hard to break.

My wife bought me a Chronarch for Fathers Day took it to the lake for a 3 day trip but when I got back home I traded it for a Calcutta and change.

I own and use both style reels, but just like Catt, I prefer the feel of a round reel.

It probably goes back to my days on the ocean, when I spent thousands of hours clinging to a Penn Squidder and Penn GTi ;)

I like the LP reels for most bass fishing. I still have a few round reels for live lining catfishing & hybrid fishing. Most types of reels have a particular application where they really shine.
