Hawg Fan Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I'm about to buy my first semi high end setup of a (Citica/Shimano Rod) and was wondering if any of you have tried either of these rods. The Compre 7' MH Fast is around $100.00 and has IM8 Graphite, where as the Convergence 7'0 MH Fast is around $50.00 and is made with IM6 Graphite. Do you think there will be much of a quality difference as far as sensitivity and being able to feel subtle takes. I need all the help I can get! Thanks for any input! Nick Quote
hawgchaser Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Either one will work however you will be able to tell a difference. If I were getting a ctica and wanted a 7' MH rod, I would get the Bass Pro Extreme Combo. They have the Citica version and the BP rod is a better rod IMO. I know some will disagree but I have fished with the Compre and Extreme and Ill take the extreme anyday plus the combo is a great price right now. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted April 13, 2008 Super User Posted April 13, 2008 yes. You get a better graphite and better guides with the compre. Now I don't have a convergence, but I do have a clarus and a compre. I note a difference in sensitivity between those two with the Compre being better and the Clarus is even higher up from a convergence. So, it would follow if the Clarus is a step up from the Convergence, and the compre is a step up from the Convergence, then the Compre should be (and will be) a above the Convergence. Shop around places like sportsmans. I found my compre on sale for $54 and that is cheaper that a Clarus. Quote
Hawg Fan Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 Thanks for the replies, I guess I will have to shell out the money for the Compre. I would buy the BPS Rod but I have never had a shimano...anything. Do you think that setup of 7' MH Fast would be good for most applications besides certain soft plastic rigs? Quote
Matt Jungblut Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 that combo sould suit u just fine i had a compre and loved that rod Quote

I think you will love the combo. Where do you fish? I have a place on Greers but the flood has screwed up my entire spring. All the water that I fish has been affected. Quote
pk Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I have two mid 90s Convergences. They may not be as great as the Compre, but they are indestructable. All my mid 90s BPS rods have broken guides, but my Convergences are still in use and taking a lot of abuse. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted April 13, 2008 Super User Posted April 13, 2008 The shimanos have a lifetime warrenty also I have a few clarus and convergance rods clarus are slighty lighter and have fuji reel seats the convergance is real nice i like the biogrip reel seat wich fits my revos perfect like what was said earlier they are indestructable Quote
