Noboat Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 I have trouble seeing my line above the water surface using clear mono - and I REALLY have trouble with the flurocarbon. I have tried Berkley Transitions in red, but it wasn't as visible as I thought that it would be. I am thinking of going to try Berkley Big Game Green. Is there any school of thought out there that says that the line will spook more fish since it is so visible? I will be using this line on a plastic worm pole. Thanks! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted April 10, 2008 Super User Posted April 10, 2008 Why don't you use braid ? Quote
thetr20one Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Yellow braid with a flouro leader. you could see that from space!! My dad has trouble seeing lines and uses flourecent green line with a leader. when we fish together sometimes this setup distracts me!!! It looks like he is fishing with a light sabre!!! Quote
BadKarma42 Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 It looks like he is fishing with a light sabre!!! Does his rod make the sound of a light saber? Quote
Noboat Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 Im my little world... I would like to not mess around with leaders, etc. if at all possible. I would go with a nice bright fluro if one was available. Quote
kms399 Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 suffix elite in hi-vis yellow works pretty well. Quote
Noboat Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 suffix elite in hi-vis yellow works pretty well. I that mono or fluro? Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 11, 2008 Super User Posted April 11, 2008 I use Trilene XL in Clear Blue Fluorescent. Very visible above water, (even on cloudy days) but not below. Falcon Quote
Bassackward Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I've tried both the suffix elite and just using hi-vis yellow braid. The braid is a lot more visible. Im kind of partial to braid anyways Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted April 11, 2008 Super User Posted April 11, 2008 use yellow or white braid and color the last 10 feet black with a permanent marker. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 11, 2008 Super User Posted April 11, 2008 I switch between Big Game Green, Amber, & Dark Blue for the exact reason you are talking about; I notice no difference in the amount of bites I get. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 12, 2008 Super User Posted April 12, 2008 For nylon mono, the Stren Clear/Blue fluorescent line is the original line watchers choice. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 12, 2008 Super User Posted April 12, 2008 Green mono will be even less visible to your eye than clear. Quote
The_Natural Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Green mono will be even less visible to your eye than clear. Yep. That is why I use crystal clear CXX versus the moss green. I can see it well enough above water, yet will match any water conditions. If you want bright, I'd probably go clear blue fluorescent. You can even get CXX in clear blue... Quote
