Guest avid Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Well that didn't take long did it? I'm guessing a few members will jump on these and give us a report. http://www.***.com/descpage-MLMM.html?utm_source=basslist&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=071016-Mailing Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 17, 2007 Super User Posted October 17, 2007 So, what is the fundamental difference in today's "hot" soft plastic "swimbaits" and old Sassy Shad? http://www.mistertwister.com/products/design/customize.php?product_familyid=568&familyname=Saltwater+Sassy+Shad Quote
bass109 Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 well only bluegill and golden shiner color are left. I'm surprised they still have those colors, usually *** is always out of basstrix soft plastic lures. Quote
Mattlures Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 RW on the surface there doesnt seem to be much diference but The SS realy is not a good bait. The action is poor. The baits do produce in the salt but there are still much better options. The diference may not be huge but they are there. Do one of your comparisons like yoiu did with the real Senkos and the rip offs. I think your results with the sassys vs basstrix will be much more lopsided. Soon I will be releasing a bait that will compete with the basstrix. It will be an exact replica of a shiner with a belly slit and a boot tail. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 17, 2007 Super User Posted October 17, 2007 Well, you better send me a couple of prototypes to test out for you! : My question about Sassy Shad was just that, a question. I have fished them on occasion for freshwater striper with VERY LIMITED success. However, they appear similar in design, but perhaps not functionally. I haven't fished the Basstrix, I can't get a hold of one. Quote

Mr. Mattlures, sir, As a faithful customer and one who never passes up an opportunity to extoll the virtue's of your swimbaits, I kindly call DIBS ON YOUR NEW BAIT!!!! thank you. Quote
Triton9 Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 haha good one avid , but i cant wait for your basstrix knockoff comes out Mattlures, i love your stuff ;D ;D Quote
Mattlures Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Triton9 my bait is absolutly not a knock off. I dont make knockoffs. All my baits are my designs. I said it would compete with the Basstrix not copy them. Actualy if you laid the two next to each other the only similarity would be that they both have boot tails and eyes. There are knock offs out there and from what I have heard they are not as good as the originals. Imagine that! For any of you that are interested in trying a Basstrix, I do recomend going with the originals. I do not personaly know Bruce Porter but I have met him and he seems to be a good guy. he has been in the game many years before me and I respect that. His baits are quality. when the market gets flooded with rip offs the originals will become easyer to get. They may cost a buck or 2 more but they are worth it. They realy are neat little baits. I think I got them beat though. Quote
mackkie Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 When can we expect to see these Matt? Sometime over the winter?? Quote
Super User David P Posted October 18, 2007 Super User Posted October 18, 2007 The basstrix are much better then any knock off that has come out thus far. Avid, if you don't find any in the near future and still want them, shoot me a PM I can send you a couple 4" holo shad. I get them somewhat frequently but I usually sell them first or second day. Goodluck on your search bud. Quote
Triton9 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 i meant the term "knockoff" lightly Mattlures, i know you make your own original stuff, i guess i could have found a better word, my apologies. i use several of your swimbaits and catch em' good on em. and cant wait for the new one to come out. johnkook73 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Cant wait to see what they look like, good luck. Quote
Mattlures Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Triton9 I kinda figured you were just funnin. No need to apologize at all, I just wanted to be clear and I apreciate your suport of my baits Now back to the original Topic...Basstrix. Bruce porter was one of the original big rubber swimbait guys from 15 years ago. He made a basic full bodied swimbait that was dipped much like his little paddle tail tubes. They are crude by todays standards but at the time they were on of the best big baits out. His little tubes truley are quality and I honestly beleiv they will out fish the knock offs. They swim good but more importantly they look realy good anf have great paintgobs with cool scale effects. I know they are grossly overpriced on ebay but if you can get them at regular retial price, I recomend you give them a try. Use a weighted falcon type hook and you can rig them weedles. They are not a big fish bait but they are money bait. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted October 18, 2007 Super User Posted October 18, 2007 The good thing about the lures that Porter and Matt make is that they do them in house. If they were manufactured any where else in the world, there would already be an identical knockoff on the market. Just look at the world of golf clubs. Hell, the scammers have the dupe product on the shelves before the original a lot of times. Quote
Guest avid Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I think I got them beat though. Gotta hand it to you Matt. without any fanfare or overblown hype you quietly have me drooling. Your understated confidence is no doubt 100% sincere. But it doesn't hurt that it doubles as marketing genius. How about I just send you my wallet? Be merciful.......................please Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 20, 2007 Super User Posted October 20, 2007 Basstrix is at great lure. It produces great results. The only problem with them is that the company can't keep up with demand. It was just a matter of time before some other company with the know how knocked them off. Quote
.Paxamus. Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Matt, i can't wait to get my hands on one of those shad swimbaits you are going to come out with! I am new to swim baits, but a good looking shad one has me drooling! Quote
