TrickyVT1887 Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Reelmech or anyone else that would know what is the difference between the new Shimano Curado 100D, Citica 100 and the old Shimano Curado 100 SF? To me they look and feel about the same I was just curious if someone knew the difference. Quote
SCBASS Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I'll take a stab at it. The curado 100d and citica 100dsv are very similar and have the same profile. The curado has one more bearing than the citica and also comes in many more options. The bearing absent in the citica is a shaft support bearing for the handle. This means that cast performance are virtually the same. The citica only comes in a right hand, deep spool version where as the curado comes in both right and left hand models for the regular and deep spools. The old curado model your thinking of is either a 200 BSF or the 100b. The 200BSF has a similar bearing lay out as the new 100d but the profile and components are different. Lastly, the 100b is the smaller version of the regular 200b but it utilizes the super free design like the 200BSF. Quote
TrickyVT1887 Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 i have the 100B and it did have the super free set up and I just finished checking it out on shimano's website under schematics. The only difference I can really find between the old shimano and new citica are different part numbers for the frame and other exterior parts a couple different bearings and a different shaft for the handle still need to research the Curado 100D yet though. Thanks for the reply Quote

I got my wording a bit mixed up. What I meant to say is that there was only a 100b model and that the 200b was the only one not to incorporate the SF technology. Quote
TrickyVT1887 Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 Thanks SCBASS anyone else know any other differences in the 100 series reels? Quote
Ballistik Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 The materials to make the pinion gear and spur gear adifferend between the Curado and citica. The Bearing that is missing is the worm gear bearing, I put one in my citica and not much of a difference BUT it replaced a bushing so over time is where the big difference will be. Also the Curado 100d has a wiffle spool where the citica 100dvs has a deep spool. Wiffle spool is a little easier to cast lighter lures but not that big of a difference. I only have 100 size shimanos ( curados, citicas, chronarchs 50mg ) I got rid of all of my old 100b's and got the new 100d's and love them alot more. There are extremely smooth. For the price of $150 the curado is the only way to go if you do alot of fishing. If not get the citica and you will still love it. Quote
