roger6969 Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 I have a question regarding the new fishing lines. I want to change all my old fishing line (both baitcast and spinning reels) to the new Berkley 100% Fluorocarbon line and I was told to add it only as a leader and not to fill the whole spool. Is this correct? Or I noticed the PowerPro by Spectra and wondering if I should add this to all my fishing reels (both baitcast and spinning) instead of Berkley 100% Fluorocarbon. I know I will probably get several different answers but I keep trying to get the same answer from the majority of people before I make my decision. Since these lines are expensive I don't want to try all combinations nor do I want 2 extra rods or spools for each reel. Help me !!!! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 10, 2008 Super User Posted April 10, 2008 Welcome aboard! Everyone has a "favorite" line. Over the years I have fished many and will continue to experiment as new lines are introduced. My line of choice for the past two years is Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft, #6 (11.9 lb test) for spinning tackle and #12 (19.5 lb test) for baitcasting gear. Good luck with whatever you choose. 8-) Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted April 10, 2008 Super User Posted April 10, 2008 WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How and what type of water do you fish ? There are many variables in choosing the correct type of line . Quote
MSPbass Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Yeah, there are a lot of variables, but you can't go wrong with PowerPro. After my local shop told me they spool their baitcasters with PowerPro, I tried it out. I haven't used a different line since. Quote
NBR Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 I don't understand why you would want to change all your reels to one type of line. I still use mostly mono but I do use flouro for soft plastics on a B/C or two. The water I fish is very clear and I don't want to mess with adding a leader so I don't use any braid but I'm thinking of trying it on my CRig outfit if summer ever comes to NH. Quote
