Autiger24 Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Roadwarrior I know you use Ultra Soft exclusively if I'm right. I was wondering how the stretch compares to mono or flourocarbon. If I had to guess I would say somewhere in between, but I wasn't sure. Thanks Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 5, 2008 Super User Posted April 5, 2008 Welcome aboard! The stretch is nominal, I don't notice it at all. 8-) Quote
skillet Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 WELCOME to the forums!!! Have just started using the UltraSoft and like it so far...need a little more time to make sure... As Ever, skillet BTW never used floro, can't help with that part Quote
LandofLincoln Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft is remarkable line. I use it on spinning gear (6lb) and can honestly say I've never lost a fish to line or knot failure. Low memory, very high diameter to strength ratio and I've never noticed enough stretch to effect fishing. Can be hard to find (Cabela's is best) and is a little pricey compared to some but it lasts forever. If you're looking for a good all-around line you really can't go wrong with it. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted April 5, 2008 Super User Posted April 5, 2008 WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
MichBassMan Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I love the ultra soft and use it for all my spinning gear applications and most bait caster applications. As far as the stretch, it seems caparatible to trilene xt when new but after a little use the stretch seems to be less than any mono I've ever used and there is little or no memory. It's tougher than XT and more managable then XL. Good Luck ! Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted April 5, 2008 Super User Posted April 5, 2008 Wow....sounds too good to be true. : Quote
Madhouse27 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Ihave YHUS 6lb on a couple of my spinning reels but haven't tried it on any baitcasters. What pound test would you guys recommend? Quote
skillet Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I put 12 lb. on my Citica and it casts great and very little or no memory. Have to use it more to have opinion on strength... As Ever, skillet BTW Probably shouldn't say "no memory". None compared to anything I've used before Quote
Popeye Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Welcome to the BR Forums!! Yo-Zuri is hard to beat, IMO. I use it exclusively on ALL my spinning gear in 8# and 10#. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted April 6, 2008 Super User Posted April 6, 2008 If I can find it I will try it this year on a spinning rig. I'll be comparing to XT so it shouldn't have a problem in the memory dept. But, according to RW he uses 6lb YZ on his spinning rigs and I'm really not having much trouble with 6lb XT on mine as it is. It is when I've tried 10 lb on spinning reels where I've had problems with XT. Quote
Lard_Bass Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I have been using 4# and 6# Ultra Soft on all my spinning rigs. I talked to the reps at Yo Zuri and they recommended 4# for lighter fishing (i.e trout) and 6# for most bass applications. I have been quite happy with it over the past year. I spray some line conditioner on as well and the line has little to no memory. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted April 6, 2008 Super User Posted April 6, 2008 I love the 6# on my spinning rig. It is literally the best line I've tried. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 7, 2008 Super User Posted April 7, 2008 Spinning gear: #6 (11.9 lb test) Baitcasting tackle: #12 (19.5) 8-) Quote
BrockSamson Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I use the 6# on my spinning outfit. Phenomenal stuff. Quote
