Hey guys, i just bought myself a new daiwa exceler, and was wondering what type of knot do you use to tie the line to the spool.  Ive been using a variety of different ones, but whats the optimal one that has very low clearance, so the line doesnt catch on the knot when im casting.  Thanks in advance

Arbor knot but I don't understand the line catching on the knot. You should cut the tag end close. I assume you fill the spool to within an 1/8" of the lip and the knot should be buried under the line.

It doesn't matter. Some guys don't tie and just tape it to the spool. That spool, depending on size and line size, will hold loads more line than your longest cast. And should you hook up with some monster that takes out line all the way down, the knot wouldn't matter, it's going to break, period.
