Have any of you used this line? How well can you see the color in the sunlight, and does it really "vanish" in the water. If you havent used it, what is your favorite line.

Thanks

Yes, you can see it real good in sunlight. It's the sunlight that makes it turn the bright gold color. It does loose it's color when submerged and will get a lighter color if you shade the line on the reel. It takes a few seconds for the color change to occur. Did I like the line? NO, it is still the same ole junky Vanish.

Thanks for the welcome. What would you guys consider one of the top mono lines out right now, of course they all say "im the best". I have Stren, Vanish, and Trilene XL (All 10lb) in my bag right now and i cant really tell a difference

Okay Wayne P, what do you really think? ;)

A lot of guys have had bad experience with Vanish.

Although I have heard it's "improved", I will never

give it another chance!

BTW, Welcome aboard!

yeah i guess you could ask 20 different people and get 20 different answers..

...17 of which would be some less abrasive variety of "It's crap"  ;D

I tried it, and although it is a really cool idea, there are so many better lines out there that don't handle like a slinky.

I have used it for 2 or 3 years and I like it just fine. My experience is that since it if flouro it sinks and I don't get the yellow line on the surface which at times I wish I did.

It's like all the rest of the Vanish, BRITTLE CRAP!

Dont yell at me but i love berkley vanish...  I use the 8 lb test for my smaller jerkbaits, shakeyhead worms, and wacky worms.  I do like clear the best though it handles the best.  And I would never use over 8 lb test either, it does get slinky like if your not using it for a faster moving bait.

I used 14 lb test in saltwater however and caught some nice jack and a redfish on it.  I just dont like it for bass fishing

Not going to get any yells here. I do prefer P Line and Stren Fluoros to anything Berkley, though I have heard Berkley's new pure fluoro line is awesome.

they make a new flouro line? whats it called?

maybe thats why all the vanish went on sale....

Trilene 100% fluoro from what I believe. Lots of guys on this site swear by the stuff.

New Professional Grade 100% Fluorocarbon. I'm skeptacle of that line for the simple reason that with an in-store comparison of 12#, the "new" line is a larger diameter than Vanish. I just wonder if the "new" line is just re-packaged and under lable rated Vanish so it would appear as a "new" stronger line.

Skepticzm of the new Berkley fluorocarbon revisited.

I went to Dick's Sporting Goods today to recheck the comparison of Vanish and the new Berkley fluorocarbon lines. Of the same pound test that both had represented the following is the listed diameters for each:

Vanish 10#=28mm    New Berkley Fluoro  10#=30mm

Vanish 17#=38mm    New Berkley Fluoro   17#=41mm

Vanish 20#=41mm    New Berkley Fluoro   20#=43mm

The 12# new line was sold out so I couldn't re-compare that pound test again. I opened a box of Vanish 20# and a box of the new line in 17# which are the same diameter and they both were equally stiff and wiry feeling. I put a kink in each line and they both held that bend the same amount.
