joshmb1999 Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 if you are really wanting to get a rod in that price range my vote would be for st. croix legend tournament. Quote

GitRDoneIke23 Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 I'd get a American Rodsmiths H3 Titanium. www.americanrodsmiths.com/Products/H3Titanium/H3TitaniumFreshwaterModels/tabid/77/Default.aspx Bass Pro has some on their site for $200. Just search for "H3 Titanium" I just bought a baitcasing model about 4-5 months ago and I LOVE IT!!! Top notch if you ask me!! You WILL NOT be disapointed with this rod!! If you want to pay $270.........You can get THE BEST ROD ON THE MARKET!!! The American Rodsmiths H3 Titanium Ultra. www.americanrodsmiths.com/Products/H3Titanium/H3TitaniumUltra/tabid/137/Default.aspx Bass Pro has it for $270. I think with your baits listed you would be better served to go for a MH instead of M. I have some M St. Croix and Gloomis IMX spinning rods and I wouldn't use any of them with a spinnerbait. I only use plastics and jigs up to 1/4 oz on those rods anything else seems too heavy. The rod RW recommended is a MH and will do most of what you want. I had one and it was a bit too heavy for my purposes so I traded it off. Quote

For those techniques you would be better served with baitcasting gear. Personally, I limit my spinning to light lines and finesse techiques. But, if you want to use heavier spinning gear, It would be hard to argue with the SJ843 that Roadwarrior suggested. Quote
bronzeback01 Posted April 2, 2008 Author Posted April 2, 2008 yeah i already have an sjr 843 but i'm not crazy about the handle , i like the bronzback handle or some kind of split grip handle. Quote
RiskKid. Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Consider the new Shimano Cumara at $220. I just got a deal on a MH 7'2". It is a very sweet rod. The Med is rather light so I opted for the MH which I feel would serve your purposes well. Quote

GitRDoneIke23 Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 To all doubters of the American Rodsmiths H3 Titanium Ultra... I have talked to several guides (all not endorsed, sponsored, or in any way affiliated with American Rodsmiths.) Most have said they SWEAR by it. Two of them used to be die-hard G-Loomis men and a third was exclusivly St. Croix. Most of them said the American Rodsmiths H3 Titanium Ultra was the best rod they've ever seen. I've fished a baitcasting model, and it's a DREAM!! I own one of the H3 Titaniums, and it's the best I've ever handled. ( I've fished with everything form G-Loomis, St. Croix, Custom, Shimano, you name it!) American Rodsmiths H3 Titanium Ultra= BEST ROD ON THE MARKET!! JMHO. Tight Lines 8-) Quote
