New Bass Man Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 I have the 783c and I love it. I read this post with great interest. As much as I have tried, I can't make a case of owning both. I too think the 783c makes the better all around rod. I would be interested in hearing from someone who owns both. How do you use them? Quote

How do you use them? owning both what? if you mean both the MB783 and the MB844 they are totally different in my opinion. The 782 does lots of things well, but the 844 would be better for Crigs, jigging and frogging in my opinion. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 I have the 783c and I love it. I read this post with great interest. As much as I have tried, I can't make a case of owning both. I too think the 783c makes the better all around rod. I would be interested in hearing from someone who owns both. How do you use them? I own the IMX MBR783C and the IMX 844C (I also have the IMX 843C). I use the 783C for Spinnerbaits mainly and the 844C is used as my pitching rod. If I take one rod with me to use for all applications (mainly if there are three in the boat and I am limited to one rod), I take the 843C. The 843C is light enough in power to throw smaller plastics, but has enough juice to pull fish out of weeds. Admittingly, the 843C isn't ideal for heavy weeds or wood cover, which is why I bought the 844C, but just short of that application, it is a very good all around rod. The 783C would be my second choice as an all around rod, but I like a longer length for soft plastics. The 844C is a great rod, but as mentioned before, the power maybe a little heavy for an all around rod. Honestly, all three rods are great and I enjoy fishing everyone of them, but when it comes down to me taking one, the 843C is it. (Disclaimer: this is based only on my experience, fishing style, and opinion) Quote
New Bass Man Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Hot N trot, I talking about the 783 and 844. I held the 844c in my hand today and it was sweet. I almost jumped on it. It gets high praise around here. I guess I'm not convinced that I would get enough use out of it to justify the cost. I guess I'm with the original poster. I can't find anything that matters, to me at least, that the 783 can't do. The bait monkey thought he had me! Quote
