Bassbilly Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 What brands of fish attractant do you use on your soft plastics, if any? How do you apply them to the lure? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 31, 2008 Super User Posted March 31, 2008 MegaStrike. This attractant has the consistancy of Vasoline and comes in a handy tube. MegaStrike is very user friendly. You will only need to apply it once on an outing. 8-) Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 31, 2008 Super User Posted March 31, 2008 I have several brands in my boat, but the bass seem to prefer the Kick'n Bass in Garlic flavor. I just hold the bait over the side of the boat and put a few drops on and then drop it in the water. That stuff is hard to get off boat parts. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted March 31, 2008 Super User Posted March 31, 2008 I don't use any scent for bass fishing. Although whiskered fish like carp, suckers & bullheads have a keen sense of smell, bass are basically sight-feeders. Roger Quote

I like the slime coat MegaStrike imparts and think fish might hold on a little longer if a soft plastic has a pleasant taste, but maybe not! : 8-) Quote

Today's angler has every advantage on his side, so in sympathy for bass I gift them that 2/5 second : ;D Roger Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 31, 2008 Super User Posted March 31, 2008 Megastrike on the swimbaits and now JJ's Magic on the soft plastics. Both great products IMO. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 31, 2008 Super User Posted March 31, 2008 Nope, not a scent user here, if the bait comes cooked or with it ----> fine, if it doesn 't ----> fine too. Quote
Redtail Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I think some anglers use attractants just to keep the bait from smelling like whatever might be on their hands, gasoline, grease, oil, cologne etc. Quote
M_Fields. Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I use Smelly Jelly some times. Just put a little on and you are good to go. The stuff smells really bad, but works for me. M_Fields Quote
low_pro Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Cod liver oil, garlic powder, and salt... add pure petrolium jelly to stick to hard baits... (or add coffee instead of garlic powder ;D) Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted April 1, 2008 Super User Posted April 1, 2008 I am not a big believer in scents either, but I do put Mega Strike on just about everything. I feel that it acts as a lubricant and helps baits come through vegetation. Quote
