THIS IS HORRIBLE: I stored the rod in a small shed behind the dorm I supervise at work, under lock and keyy, with my snow tires. I DID NOT KNOW THEY WERE SLATED TO BE DUMPED. Today they knoceked all these sheds down with a back hoe and ran over them to flatten them out. They opened the sheds first and took my tires out but never saw the rod which i had up on the wall on a few nails . THE ROD IS IN AT LEAST 4 pieces, I m going to work soon, and will hold the apropriate ceramonial burial!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like no HMG til next year :'(

Thats a bummer Muddy, maybe your luck will flip-flop and you'll find a $100 bill at work to get you into a new HMG. Weird stuff can happen, never know. :)

Gather up the pieces.  That rod should have a lifetime guarantee.  A friend of mine broke a 10 year old hmg and sent it in.  They replaced it at no cost.  At least give that a try.

I would never return a rod like that It Was My Fault not theirs, sorry I am not an idiot but I refuse to return something that broke because of me and not a defect.

SOLUTION TO PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 25 dollar BPS gift card headed my way and 18 bucks of points to burn

They have the BPS exteremes on sale for 60 bucks, and they are great rods and had one before. I will just get a 7 ft med Extreme, and next year the HMG will come into my hands. Who knows I may saty pat with the Extreme 8-)

Yeah!  Telling Fenwick that he kept fighting the fish even after the first two breaks, only to have the rod break a third time, would have sounded very believeable.   :)

Actually I could have said those  &^*@##( Bluegills are tough at this time of the year, and that PLINE is great, one hookset and the rod shattered

I do not get the idea of calling a company for something that was my fault. I dealt with it already, next time I know not to do that.

I do not get the idea of calling a company for something that was my fault.

Some companies like to go way beyond for customer relations. I used to have "C.F Martin" commemorative "Zippo" lighter with the serial # of my guitar engraved on the lid. I broke the weld on the lid by dropping the lighter on a hard floor while open. I sent the lighter to Zippo to get it fixed because the original engraving was done for my wife and could not be reproduced. I asked that they weld it back together and send me a bill for the repair. Not only did they repair my lighter for free, but they sent me another one, sans the engraving. All at no charge, thanking me for being a loyal customer. I also broke a Loomis GLX rod while taking off the guides to re wrap them. My total negligence. I called to ask if I could get the same blank to wrap it from scratch and the guy insisted that Loomis would replace it, no questions. I told him the whole story, I broke it, with a heat gun and some stupidity. I was very clear that the rod had no defects and that I was solely responsible for the breakage. He said you send it back and we will replace it, that's our policy. So I did, and they did. I am a loyal Loomis customer and will use their rods when ever I can. I say call them and tell them the truth about what happened. Give them a chance to make you a customer for life.

Thanks Alpster, I appreciate it. I really have a firm conviction that I should not try this, it is part of me making a continuing effort to take responsibility for my actions, It was just a rod in the scope of things,

Burley just made me a customer for life, to be explained ;D
