Has anyone tried Sunline Defier?  Is this stuff any good?

I almost bought some 13lb on ebay.  It had a last bid of $19.99.  I did not bid because I thought who would spend $20 for Nylon Line.  I then looked up the regular price at a couple of on line stores.  This stuff costs $40.

Should I have jumped all over this?

Yes you should have jump on it for that price.  It is all I use on bait casting equipment.

That price is for 330 yards and it does not have to be changed as often as some other line.

Your results may vary, but from my experience Sunline is highly over-rated.

I have been using it for a long time and in my experience Sunline is one of the best on the market.

I bought some last year to try it and I agree 100% with Bud....it is far better than any line I have used. Smoother, casts great and I find it is much easier to fix a backlash with this line also.

That having been said I still use Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft due to the cost but there is no question the Sunline Defier is the best stuff I have tried by far.

I am going to contact the ebay seller and see if he can get some at the price it sold for last night.

He also had some great prices on Megabass lures.  I scored a Limber Lumberjack for $30.  I have seen this swimmbait go for $70  ;D.  I also got 3 other Megabass cranks for $10-$15 each.  At that price, I can stomach ordering these lures.  Most of the time I see them for around $25 and up.

Did you pick these up from a seller calling himself Basscat2000? I ask because I picked up a Deep-X 100 and a spool of Sunline FC Sniper line and I know he had some other Sunline and Megbass product on auction. Small world...maybe. :)

Sunline defier is d**n good line, I use the 13lb mostly, it lasts a very long time, retains its vivid green color, wish it was cheaper, you get what you pay for. Does he have anymore for $20, I'll take 3 or 4 rolls.

Fishtank,

If you didn't know, Sunline Defier has a smaller diameter than many copolymers. The 13lb is 0.0118 in. That's between 8lb and 10lb Suffix and close to 6lb P-Line CXX. If you're looking to match line diameter and breaking strength you may want to go with a higher test.

Here's the diameter sizes for Defier:

lb        dia/in         qty

13      0.0118      330yd

15      0.0126      330yd

17      0.0134      330yd

19      0.0142      330yd

22      0.0150      330yd
