Bass_Cash Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I am going to purchase my first flipping set up here very soon. In Florida, I am learning to compete in tournaments you must be handy with this technique as the bass consistently are buried deep in the vegetation. Any info would help. Mainly some preferred rods. SteveF Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I prefer a St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass 7'6" MH with a Mod. tip. In Florida the tip would allow you to use braid without over-doing the hookset and still allow you plenty of power to pull big bass from heavy cover. I would probably top it with a Daiwa Zillion, as that is what one of my has. Hope this helps. Steve Quote
Infidel. Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 7'6"H Diawa Cielo flippin stick!!! It is the lightest and best balanced flipping rod I've ever used. It has a two piece design that is the next best thing to a one piece rod... way better than a telescopic rod IMO. I have it paired with a Revo SX 7 to 1 which is great for getting the bait in quick between flips. Plus it has the strongest drag out of all the high speed reels out there. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted March 27, 2008 Super User Posted March 27, 2008 G-Loomis, GLX Length= 7.5, Power= heavy, Action=fast, Line wgt= 15-25 Calcutta 250 #50 braid. And I live and Flip in S. Florida. Quote

Florida. +1 I assume you are talking about the bcr894. What most don't realize until after they purchase a long rod like a flippin' stick is how accurately they can pitch. Skipping is also easy and fairly backlash-free with a 7'5" or longer rod. You will see...I couldn't help it and ordered the 7'6" and 8' Carrot Sticks. I'm a proclaimed Loomis guy, but the E21 rods are not a gimmick or fad...they are the real deal. I would go with the 894 if you can afford the $450, but if you prefer to spend less the Carrot Stick is dominating the middle rod market right now. You won't find a bad review of the Carrot... Quote
