Shadcranker Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 http://www.deloscustomtackleshack.com/accessories/storzit.html I've seen these and also the Stik jacket kind. i think I like the Storz it ones better. Just curious if these eliminate the need for rod locker organizers (tubes)? Think the bait monkey is pushing in this direction. Quote
TxBuddha Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I use the Stik Jackets and really like the way they keep tangles down. Only problem is that I don't have enough of 'em! Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 7, 2008 Super User Posted March 7, 2008 I have a rod rack in one box. The overflow is in BPS rod socks in the other rod box. They work quite well and sell for about 1/2 of the Storz. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted March 8, 2008 Super User Posted March 8, 2008 I've used the BPS rod sleeves and hated them. I only use them for spinning gear. The sleeves I use I got from Fivebasslimit here. Basically it's the tubular mesh like the Stick jackets are made out of. It works perfectly. There is absolutely no need for rod storage racks using those systems. In fact, if you're using either of those rods systems (Storz it or Stick Jacket) you're limiting what you can put in the rod box with a rod storage system. You can literally cram as many rods into the box as possible and then reach in pull the one out you need. No tangles, no snagging up in the front part of the rod box under the deck. Great system. Thanks. Is it a pain keeping up with all the loose sleeves when you have a bunch of rods out, junk fishing? Quote
tkite16 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I use the bass pro shops rod sleeves and love them. I also got automotive touch up paint pen and painted on each sock what is on that rod. I have 10 rods in my box and 3 on deck plus the one I'm using . I never have any trouble getting a rod out ,just look in read which lure I want and the rod slides right out. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 8, 2008 Super User Posted March 8, 2008 I also use the Bass Pro Shops rod sleeves also and have some that are similar which were provided with some rods I purchased. It's all about maximum rod storage and tangle prevention no matter which style you use. Keeping unused sleeves stored was the determining factor in the style I chose. Quote
michbass Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I like the stickjacket due to it is what I think the easiest to but on and take off and offers good protection. It literary just slides on and off where the socks get to be a pain. Still like tubes and use with them. Quote
BassinDave Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I use the Cabelas rod sox, solved the tangling problem in the rod locker, fits casting and spinning rods Quote
Branuss04 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I used the BPS ones and wasn't a fan, so I went with the stik jackets and love them. I only use them when storing them at home and heading to the lake and back from the lake. So I just put them in the truck when not in use. They do the job for me Quote

Thanks. Is it a pain keeping up with all the loose sleeves when you have a bunch of rods out, junk fishing? When I pull them off I roll them up and stick them in the rod box. I bought a box of the Metal Rim Tags from Walmart for $2.50. I wrote the specific rod use on each tag and then slid the split ring on the thing onto the mesh sleeve. Since the mesh rod sleeves cover up most of the rod and since I use reel covers it's almost impossible to figure out what rod is what unless I use the tags. The system works great. Quote
Bassbilly Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Not to hijack the post, but along similar lines, does anybody use the soft-sided travel cases for rods and reels. I typically only travel with 5 or 6 rods. I recently bought this one from BPS, because I will be fishing club tournaments every month and traveling more. Any feedback on these? Anybody use anything like this? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_15114_999034012_100000000_100004000_100-4-2 Quote
Daiwa Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I just bought a cover today for my rod. I also bought a reel cover. Im finding ways I can make them both better. Quote
