i just got a brand new abu garcia ambassadeur 4007 (thanks Tin!)

it looks like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ABU-GARCIA-4007LP-CASTING-REEL-New-In-Box-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ190207464672QQihZ009QQcategoryZ36146QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and im noticing something very weird that i have not seen on any other reel....

it has no spool tension knob.

it has a magnetic brake on the left sideplate, a star drag and handle on the right sideplate, and a flippin switch on the top, but there is no spool tension knob on the right side like every other reel i've seen.

has anyone used one before? how do you adjust the tension on the spool for casting different weight lures?

If it's new in the box, maybe it's in the manual...That seller does like to write large font smack. But I have to disagree with this him, it isn't the finest reel Garcia® has ever put out. Revo is for Garcia® LP reels the finest now.

Just my .02¢

Is there a spot where it looks like there should be a knob or is it not there at all? That sounds kinda wierd. I know the 1003 and 2005 LPs both have tension knobs I can't imagine why the 4007 wouldn't also since all 3 reels are part of the same line.

what little I could find indicated that the magnetic and mechanical brakes are both adjusted with the same knob.

strange design, if that's the case.

by the way, FFO has 4 of these for $56@

yes there is a little bump in the spot where a spool tension knob would normally go.

i did notice that the mag brakes on the left side were very strong, just a few clicks and the spool would barely turn for a 1/4oz lure.

It looks like my d5,s  they have just a mag brake also >not bad but casting anything under1/4 oz means a light action rod

Give me a hollar when you're ready to sell.  I've been looking for one of those used as a flippin reel since they have a flippin switch.

Might have one more, but I won't give that one away.

I'm still looking for the box and manual Dave. >;)

aren't all abu's made in sweden? i thought they were. i'll have to look on the reel to see if it says made in sweden anywhere on it.

I believe that reel is made in Korea. AFAIK, none of the ABU low profile reels are made in Sweden. I have recently noticed that some of the low profiles (Max series and I have heard Revo S) are now being made in China.

ok i just assumed they were all made in sweden.

i checked all over the reel and couldnt find a stamp that said where it was made.
