JT Bagwell Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 I can't wait until I get this new Pflueger reel. It looks awesome. Here is a link to the product info page on their website. I haven't got one of these yet, but I am probably going to. http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/products/products.php?p=56 It is kind of hard to tell in the picture, but it has a shiny metal finish. Cabelas has a decent picture of it on their website. JT Bagwell Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted March 15, 2008 Super User Posted March 15, 2008 I agree, it is a nice reel!! Looked them over a few weeks ago and was very impressed by the new Patriarch and Asaro reels. Pflueger has some NICE stuff for sure! 8-) Quote

JT Bagwell Posted March 15, 2008 Author Posted March 15, 2008 Seriously? I think normal retail is around $200. I live about 3 hours from the nearest BPS (Chicago). Thanks for the heads up. Maybe someone else that lives close to BPS can take advantage of the deal too. JT Bagwell Quote

Popeye Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 I have a new Pflueger Patriarch all spooled and mounted on a Light & Tough 6'6" medium heavy rod and as soon as I learn to cast it, I'll let you all know what I think about it. I'm new to BCing and also have a new Diawa Zillion but am so comfortable with my spinning combos that I haven't used either BC'er yet. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 JT- If you have any pull with Pflueger would you encourage them to make a 5:1 reel. I realize it is really ipt that matters, but 5:1 reels are more likely to fit the ipt range for spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Very few manufacturers are making a high end reel in this ratio range (only one comes to mind). I needed to replace two reels this year and I could only find a BPS branded reel or Curado that would fit the bill. I would prefer to have a larger choice. I realize it is all about sales numbers but there is a void in the market that could be filled.......Thanks..AL Quote

Since the buyout last fall things are not clear. I have been communicating with a guy at Pure Fishing that is now in charge of everything and it seems like things are headed in the right direction, but as of now nothing is final. I will pass along your request. JT Bagwell Quote

Good? And the 4.7:1 is probably a little slow for my needs, although I do throw my deep cranks on a Fritts 4.7:1. I need a reel that is a little faster. I can not force myself to slow down when in a tournament situation, so a 6:1 is out also..........Al In addition to the BPS David Fritts and the Shimano, two others come to mind... JT Bagwell Posted March 18, 2008 Author Posted March 18, 2008 what buyout? Shakespeare (Pflueger, All Star, Shakespeare, Cajun, X Tools, Penn and Ugly Stick) was purchased by Jarden Corporation. Shortly before that purchase, Jarden Corp purchased Pure Fishing and all of their brands (Abu Garcia, Berkley, Stren, Trilene, Spider, Johnson, Fenwick, etc). Jarden Corp also owns the following brands (and then some). Coleman (coolers, etc) Rawlings (baseball equipment) Crock Pot Mr. Coffee Health O Meter First Alert and Many Many more JT Bagwell Quote

I think the only thing that will likely change is the way the brands are marketed. You will probably see a lot of cross market advertising and things like that. They may also eliminate certain brands or product lines that do not perform well on the retail end. JT Bagwell Quote
