SV1000 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I bought two of these combos last year from GM, they were priced 75.00 each but on sale for buy one get one for 1/2 off. I have been very happy with the 7' Medium rods although I broke one in a temper tantrum last month. I decided to try a clean and lube on one LP100 and disassembled it to the cage with the exception of the mag side. I tried for two hours two get the mag cover off to remove the spool and soak it. From what I can see, it is not removable and as a result, I can't lube the other end of the spool shaft. I put it back together as is and don't plan to buy another "sort of maintainable reel". I called Pinnacle at least three times to get a parts diagram and never received one. I suspect this series of reels are not intended to be torn down or fully serviced since they don't have parts diagrams on their website like they have for the other models. Now I could be completely wrong, if ya'll know a trick to removing the mag plate let me know. SV Quote
Super User .RM. Posted March 18, 2008 Super User Posted March 18, 2008 Try a big hammer...... When I get any kind of Pinnacle reels come into my shop and the owner ask's how to take care of the reel. I always hand them my 5lb hammer I have sitting behind my counters, and tell them to take one swipe at it. Truly pieces of junk all of them........ Just my .02¢ Quote
SV1000 Posted March 18, 2008 Author Posted March 18, 2008 I like the reels, they cast almost as far as my Cruxis and they have served their purpose so far when I wanted more than one rod/reel and could only afford to spend so much. I certainly don't take what you say personally. It does chap my butt that I can't get to the other side of the cage to service it properly. I pried and twisted and managed to scar it up pretty good, hopefully it will still work at least through this season. Quote
low_pro Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 You need to take the left side off and remove the spool. Once that is out of the way, you will see a screw holding the right cover on. Take that screw out (and everything on the right side) and it will come right off. Quote

I do purchase on a budget which is why I tried the Solene in the first place. For not much more I was able to get the Accursit and am extremely satisfied... no flex, no issues at all.... Quote
Stasher1 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 You never here much about Pinnacle reels . I wonder why ? I believe you do hear about them, just not by the Pinnacle name. They (Silstar) manufacture reels for many other companies, Bass Pro included. I'm willing to bet the BPS Tourney Classic that was discussed here a few weeks ago is a Pinnacle. The handle and knobs were identical to the one on my LP100, and the markings/stickers were also very, very similar. Quote
