Ballpark Frank Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Well I am having mixed emotions over this. While I was at the Doc today for my left hand issues and decided not to go buy the Citica until I have surgery or whatever, my wife was out shopping and bought me a Quantum Code. She knows how happy I have been with my Quantums, and decided to stop by the local tackle shop on her way home from shopping. She has heard me comment that I would like to check the Code out, just to see how it performs. It seems to be a nice reel, a little odd looking, but so are my other Quantums. It is smooth on the cast and retrieve, which is quick with the Burner gearing. I am going to take it out for a good run tomorrow. I debated on taking it back, but I just can't bring myself to do it. She was so happy when she handed me the gift bag decorated with Shamrocks. She said it is my early St. Patrick's day gift. I guess the Citica will have to wait even longer. I thank God everyday for a family that supports me in my pursuit of fish and fishing gear. Quote
Big T Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Dude, I would keep it, you'll never know if you like it unless you try it. Besides there aren't many wives that would go through the touble of getting a reel as a present unless it was Christmas. Jusy my thoughts. Big T Quote
Chad. Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Keep it, it looks like she really went out of her way for you shes a keeper for sure. Quote
Bob Kavanaugh Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 You should keep them both. The reel AND the wife. Quote

I GOT NOTHING Since!!!!! :'( :'( That's great advice!! I think that your wives did that is really cool. The only way that I'll get the wifey to do that is if I leave a BPS or Cabelas catalog out with the page open, and a little sticky that says, "Great gift idea." Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted March 9, 2008 Super User Posted March 9, 2008 The only way that I'll get the wifey to do that is if I leave a BPS or Cabelas catalog out with the page open, and a little sticky that says, "Great gift idea." Even THAT won't work for me. She figures I have too much the way it is. Quote

Ballpark Frank Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Thanks guys, I do have a great wife and she is all mine. The only time I ever get flak over fishing is when I miss something(party, wedding, etc.) that I was previously told about. The Code seems to be a pretty good reel, I didn't get to use it very long today, but it casts great. I put it on my BCR 803 Mossy, and threw alot of plastics and jigs in the lake behind my house. I was throwing 1/8oz-3/8oz plastics and jigs easily. I threw a few spinnerbaits and buzzbaits just to try out the Burner gearing. Wow, I love that. This is the first HS reel I have ever had. The only thing about the Code is it's looks, kinda ugly, but it is growing on me. I am going to give the tackle buying a break for a couple of months. I have so much new gear, that I am switching up constantly to use it, instead of concentrating on fishing. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 love it when the wife surprises me like that but most of the time she wants to use it to. she got me a quantum accurist pt for valentines day this yr it was awesome casts so far and smooth. she couldnt belive how nice it was. Quote
guitarkid Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I will definately agree with everybody on here keep them both. -searoach Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted March 15, 2008 Super User Posted March 15, 2008 Your wife sounds like mine, all I have to do is mention that I'd like to try a certain rod or reel..........The next thing I know, it's a birthday or Christmas present. You're wife is a keeper. Falcon Quote
