BassFishN Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Hello everyone. I am so new and I hope someone could be nice and help me out. Ok, I am new to bass fishing and I hope to start the world of bass fishing this spring. Here is what I have bought: I have three baitcast reels. A quantum, daiwa, and a Johnny Morris reel by Bass Pro. I have two Medium action rods and one medium heavy. All three are 6'6" rods. I also have purchased some new lures, but do not have a clue what to use. I purchased some braid line by suffix and powerpro. So, could anyone give me any tips on setups? Please, thanks Quote

ventureboat Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Welcome to the wonderful world of bass fishin!!! Ask anyone here, it will definitely change your life. It's a way of life Quote
Bassackward Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Welcome. I would say throw a couple spinner baits in your tackle box as well. Guys have their preferences, but any kind will catch fish. Stick to chartruese and white in the beginning. One thing i will say is that bas fishing is like any other sport.....people can tell you how to do it, but you really just need to get out there and experiment. Every fisherman has his own strong/weak techniques. Just pick up lures that you think will work and try them. You cant mess up!...."A bad day of fishing beats and good day in the office" Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 9, 2008 Super User Posted March 9, 2008 Welcome aboard! Here are some other topics that should help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180501296/0 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1182371999 8-) Quote
Quinn Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Just my opinion: If I had this thread, with RW's input and previous threads he recomended in the FAQ section, It would have saved me hours of reading (I love reading stuff here though don't get me wrong). Those 3 links answered or cleared up more questions about "strategy" for a starter. Muchos Gracias RW and the rest. Quote
BassFishN Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 GREAT TIPS, you all. Thanks so much. You all are so nice. I can't wait to start Bass fishing Quote
BassFishN Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 Do some of you have setups for certain fishing like one for spinnerbaits/crankbaits, rigging such as worms, and jigging? I mean, I currently have four baitcast reels and want to set them up just for one particular fishing each. Get what I am saying Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 The phrase is "technique specific". http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 8-) Quote
fishizzle Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 You're opening a can of worms ;D Everyone has different opinions or prefences but Don't be discouraged if in 10 years you still have not got it perfected. I switch rods and reels and lines and tests for my technique specifics every year. So try some different setups based on those threads and follow up throughout the year with more specific questions. BassFishN Posted March 13, 2008 Author Posted March 13, 2008 Just a quick question, does anyone have any luck with shore/inland bass fishing? Quote
